Does anyone know what the difference is between a HF7D-R and a P-31-R?
Both are 1:1 and right hand rotation.
Both came off CC 327 F.
The only difference I see is the ski pole mounts easier to the HF7D-R
Any help would be great.

well there is a generational difference for sure....that stuff is on here somewhere....some of it I posted...also the net is good source for that. I wonder if the length is same???

Great Lakes Power Products was the last owner of the Paragon name that I know of. 20 odd years ago, my father and I purchased rebuilding parts directly from them to rebuild a pair of HF-7s and they claimed that they owned what was left of Paragon at that time. I am not sure if they still own them or build anything under the Paragon name any longer, but their tech people might be able to answer your questions about the differences between the two models.

Thank you for the info. I contacted Great Lakes and they were very helpful.
HF-7 is a bit older than the P-31. Same internals. Same power capacity.
Parts availability is a bit better for the P-31, and they have some parts and will sell to the public.

Glad I could help Tom. I don't know the P-31 all that well, but my dad and I rebuilt the HF-7, 1-1.5 reverse gears in his old 63 31' Sea Skiff and Great Lakes hooked us up with all the parts we needed including some impossible to find output shafts for them. We even rebuilt one of them outdoors on a picnic table because of circumstances. Let's just say our "mechanically challenged" neighbors in the marina thought we were just a lil bit nuts.
