Model A gearbox selector shaft size?

Post by NORTHJOE » Fri Jun 19, 2020 8:11 am

Someone welded something on to the selector shaft of the reversing gear box in its prior life. I’m trying to source a new one. Mine is measuring tightly at 11/16” on my calipers but it sounds like the options available are 5/8” and 3/4”? Do I maybe have a 5/8 with years of crud? Or was there an 11/16” at some point?

That’s pretty ugly 😬. I would contact Jim @ www.finewoodboats.com I think he can fix you up with something.
Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.

Those shafts are easy to replace. You will want to get the oil out of the transmission first.

Also, replace the seals while you are at it.
