M47 tach and oil pressure connection points

Post by Jim Cox » Thu Nov 15, 2018 9:22 am

I am installing a new to me M47 in a 1957 Sportsman. Any suggestions on where (and if) I connect the mechanical tach and oil pressure gauges to the motor?

I'm not sure if they changed placements over the years but on earlier years the tach connects at the back of the engine just above the transmission. Oil pressure connects behind the coil.

The tachometer cable could go to the distributor

The oil tap is here.

or it could go to the rear mount above the reverse gear.
Remember the Chrysler takes a Clockwise tachometer.
