1930 Chris -shaft log leaking

Post by JimCalvin » Wed Aug 02, 2006 11:18 am

I went to put my Chris in the lake only to find I have a leak in the shaft log (I believe that is where the leak is). Shaft has 3 nuts on it and I did not have a wrench big enough to tighten them. My large boat has packing around the shaft but not the old gal....and maybe there never was. What are some suggestions for stopping the leak. I also thought of placing slick seam aroun the area where the shaft enters the boat........help...summer is almost ending and our gal hasn't had a swim yet.

Sounds like you need to put some packing material in her....
