6 volt voltage regulator

Post by mattbyrne » Thu Oct 27, 2011 10:54 am

One of the last things I'm missing for my engine rebuild is a voltage regulator. The engine has a 6 volt positive ground system. I did a interne search and found regulators for old GMC trucks that are 6 volt positive ground. Is there a diffrence between automotive and marine voltage regulators(like starters and generators)? Is it safe to use the automotive version?

Are you sure that it has a positive ground? I have a 57' skiff with a"K" and it has a negative ground..it is also 6 volt. Just my 2 cents worth!

Yes I'm positive it's 6 volt positive ground. We've had it running set-up that way(even had to ordered a special pertronix part for a positive ground system).
