1956 Sportsman 17 Original Battery location

Post by peterhubbardgem » Mon Jul 01, 2024 1:02 pm

I'm looking to replace my floorboards, but I am not sure if my battery is in it's original location. Looking to show the boat so I want to be sure the location is correct. It currently sits in the bildge just in front of the engine.

The battery in my boat #2019 is located under the front seat.

I have a 1957 Cavalier 17’. The original battery had a hard rubber case, positioned u see the front seat. Running it fast and hard over waves caused the battery to be shocked and cracked. This put battery acid in the bilge. We repositioned it under the rear seat, port side. I had to raise the seat about 1/2” for clearance. Never had a problem since then.
