Thanks Guys!

Doug what pennant is the correct one? I like M-Fines choices! :D

Al we will see you in at Dora! I have not forgotten that I owe you a drink or dinner or both for your help last summer. Looking forward to it.

M-Fine are you going to Dora this year? Wonder what it would take to get Doug P., Joanroy, and whamm511 down there? :?

Sorry guys,

I cannot make it this year. That's my wife's birthday party and we've got relatives coming in. My Brother in law is down there now and I'm trying to talk him into staying for the show. He's down there for Bike Week. My Brass Bell hasn't arrived yet so I've not seen your write up. Don't want to spoil it by reading it online. Can't wait!!

Question for you guys. Is the above Burgee period correct? If so, when were changes made? What's the best source for obtaining one? CCABC's Ship's Store?

Dora's not in the cards for me this year. Have fun. Take lots of pictures.

Doug, what are you asking for the skiff?

The skiff is reasonable, the trailer is an heirloom.

That is a manufactured Roll Away stair used in warehouses and industry all over. I found it on Craig's List at a nearby warehouse that was downsizing due to Just-In-Time delivery practices. It's only 16" wide. They come in various widths & lengths. They can be gotten with a platform at the top as well. Mine is a Cotterman. It's 7 steps. I paid $300. Retail is over $2,000. It's been the most practical piece of 'boating' equipment I've bought!!

But I do know you and that you are nuts but totally able, prepared, devoted, durable, and courageous ....so what the hell...carry on buddy!

Yes, we Cruiser Folk are a Rare Breed, as I've often said; A bit 'teched' in the head, especially by 'normal' boating standards. But interestingly enough nearly every Woody Boater is quite glad to take a ride with us when we're done and water borne. So I maintain 'tis a glorious way to be 'teched'! Bon Voyage!

I just want you guys to know that I am terribly envious of your present obsession and madness. After passing my Connie on to a new "Care-Taker" 2 years ago I feel left out and deprived of being referred to as a crazed cruiser guy. I don't miss the 40 minute daily drives (one way) to check on her on cold, snowy days though. My problem was that she was too small to live on but too big to bring home in the winter, and too far away to be real practical. Dang, I miss her!!!

My one way drive is two hours! every week....stay aboard at least one night a week 52 weeks a year....what a great get away! Who know how much long I will last of the boat will last...but for now...

GOING BOATING!!!

I have an hour one way commute to my boat. I don't go every day. Just once a week in the off season. As I'm still working on mine I would love to have her closer but options are few and far between. When we're working on her in the summer we will often stay in a Motel nearby for a few days at a time. Mine's not really well suited for live aboard at 36' but lots of Rag-Baggers do it at that size so I may eventually give it a try.

My theory is "If it floats and is safe, get her wet and Go Boating." :D

There will always be cosmetic stuff to do, and do, and do ......

I am very fortunate in that once AB is in the water my commute time is about 2 minutes on foot, and one minute by kayak. Gotta love water access.

There were spring days when the entire marina was a quarter-mile from the temporary shoreline of the Mississippi River. We needed a boat to visit the boat. The covered floating docks kept her safe and sound during most floods, thanks to very tall spud-poles. But debris (logs, trees, even boats) would collect along the upstream side and would need to be cleared away frequently.

Winter was a different problem following a heavy snow or ice storm. The weight on the roof would push the finger walkways under. If a mooring line was tied too low, the boat would be pulled down, along with the dock. Never happened to me, I tied off high on the roof support columns, never to the cleats on the docks. I also kept a deicer going all winter that kept the water wet (as in not frozen against the hull). That and the bilge heater, and at times the cabin heater kept the electric company pleased with me.

Hey, all good memories though.
