Good calls Matt.

For me (and I know it is on other modern Chris-Craft's as well) that deck horn is super-cheesy-cheap.

Why not make the boot stripe parallel to the water like God intended it -or at least closer to it? It looks so ass-heavy.

I see the 1947-54 19' Racing Runabout in the profile, that was the first thing that struck me when I saw the rendition at the Tahoe show. But obviously Racing Runabout is not the right name for this boat. My vote would be Riviera.

Beautiful boat. And as practical as an open bow is, it's the closed bow that does it justice.

Riviera is perfect, but in case that name is unworkable from some kind of trademark standpoint, let me cover my butt and suggest a few alternatives:

Cote d Azur
Saint-Tropez
Cap Ferrat
Cannes

(As much as I like it, I wouldn't suggest "Monaco" because of Riva's close association with it, considering their Monaco Boat Works.)

Continental and Holiday are worth mentioning as well.

Excellent idea paul. CC Corp should be there with this new model in our Tent.

And they should have a raffle to give it away to someone named Matt!

I like Riviera. And I think Tavares is the prime place for a display. Will it be available as an Inboard? or just I/O :(

Showed the pictures to some LOOONG term boaters and they all agreed they liked Chris-Craft Phantom and I tend to agree. Yes it's retro but just the shape of the windsheild or any other single attribute should not automatically make it the decendant of and old series. This seems to be able to stand on its own and give bith to a new lineage. IMHO.

Per a dealer at a boat show today the down low is CC is leaning towards Capri.

The styling brings me right to Italy.

I would like to see a new nam and leave the classics as they are.

I vote for "Venitian"

I'm sticking with Riviera. I agree that the flagpoles need to be raked and the boot stripe narrowed with a contrasting bottom color.

I think it looks like a "Silver Arrow"

Let's bring that one back!!!

They already have the Silver Bullet so Arrow is unlikely unfortunately.

How about "Diva". A connection to the Riva ownship and sets it apart from the other girls.

Well, I think the Silver Arrow name would compliment the Silver Bullet name. Yes, they are close, and that is why they should use it.

New name for a new boat

The boat has very beautiful lines, and I think "Riveria" is a very fitting name. The only wish is this 20' is made in larger numbers than its predissor.

How about 'Renovo' (renew)?

I like 'Riviera' or 'Capri'

The styling and lines are beautiful, but the stem looks awkward. Not a fan of the abrupt transition (sharp corner) where the forefoot and stem meet at the chine.

But then again, maybe it will grow on me...

Totally agree with ass-heavy. Notwithstanding the practical side of the swimplatform and spray rails, if they were gone, the boat would look way better and not as ass-heavy. It looks out of scale as is, IMHO. Riviera for sure. :)

Some attempts at retro designs fail to blend the historic styling cues with modern influences. I think this design, both open and closed bow really nails that challenge and the result, is a beautiiful design achievement. What to call it? I like "Caprice'. It includes the obvious reference to another famous CC name, it starts with 'C' but it has a more modern class and elegance connotation. Names such at these need to be easy to remember and repeat and evocative of elegant lines and classic styling. 'Chris Craft Caprice' does that. Beautiful boat. Cheers.

Site visitor Ken Pineo suggest the name Calteaka for the new Vertical Bow Chris-Craft.

Thanks for visiting us Ken. Join the fun soon!

The vertical bow is reminiscent of many of the pre-war runabouts prior to the introduction of the clipper bow in the very early 40's. There were no "cool" names for any of the older models that would justify this period in Chris-Craft history though.

I like the above suggestion but will stay with my first suggestion of Grand Prix.

I would agree with the majority of the other suggestions and pick up an appropriate previously used Chris Craft line name. some other appropriate names not yet mentioned would be the "Holiday", "Capri" or even "Vacationer" that was used by Gar Wood but has a nice dreamy thought attached to it that might work.

Just thought I would thro my 2cents out there being a Launch 25 owner. Like your Catalina line as well.

Best Wishes

Carina it is! I had suggested on woody boater it would likely be a made up name. Is this made up or does any one have a reference? Maybe a woman's name?

here you go - it is a constellation and is apparently latin for the keel of a ship. Is this the name of the bow rider and the closed bow? Are they the same boats?

Carina is also the name of a ridge of cartilege in the trachea but my guess is that they did not name it after that structure!

thanks Paul, for the info and for the wiki link. It was apparently part of the larger constellation that was the boat of Jason and the argonauts, so it comes by its nautical referents honestly.

What's in a name, someone asked -- a rose by any other name, etc. In any event, it is a spectacularly lovely boat and I hope they sell lots of them. It certainly is a worthy addition to the cc line.
