Just bought a '58 kit boat that looks like a hornet. Still has the '58 Johnson 30hp motor on it which much to our surprise does turn over and spark. Boat has been garaged most of it's life. Don't like the paint job on it. I'm assuming I need to sand all the paint off and start over, correct?
Also don't like the name. How do I go about renaming it?
I'm new at this, so any help you can give will be welcome.

Now what?

I have kit boat sales literature for every year from 1950 to 1958. The only year that the Hornet model was offered was 1954. I have two different flyers from that year and the dimensions listed are 13' 4.25" length and 62" beam. I know the Essential Guide lists the Hornet as a 1957 model, but the literature I have doesn't support that. The '57 & '58 Grayling appears to have similar dimensions to the Hornet, but the deck configuration looks slightly different.
As Don said, post pictures.
