how to make a new stem-cap / bullnose?

Framing, planking and fairing. Repair, or reconstruction. If it's hull related, you'll find it here.

how to make a new stem-cap / bullnose?

Post by iwally » Sun Mar 16, 2014 10:50 am

So I've been avoiding this one for awhile but will have to face up to it soon ..
how exactly do/did all y'all make a new stem-cap / bullnose piece??

Not talking about the piece that lies flat, the stem itself - that I've traced per the book. But I can't find any mention of this pyramid shaped object.

OK OK it's not a bullnose bullnose .. it's a stem-cap that is somewhat, well - slightly, bullnose-like. It's in the same general area anyhow ;)

I'll get a picture up soon.

Sand it down, stain it, use 2-3 coats of CPES, plug the screw holes with wood soaked in epoxy, and install it!
Dont fill the bolt holes of course.
