Framing, planking and fairing. Repair, or reconstruction. If it's hull related, you'll find it here.

1957 chris craft cavalier 2 bottom beams

Post by Jeanette » Mon Aug 01, 2022 12:01 am

Recently got the job of refinishing a 1957 Chris Craft Cavalier. V17 655 L is hull number. I'd like to find any information on this boat and in particular what the 2 12 foot 6 in. beams that go under engine and transmission. A shade bigger than a 2X4 Made of what wood? Any other resources regarding this boat I would appreciate.

The engine stringers are probably Douglas Fir. You could substitute White Oak but it would weigh more and harder to drive fasteners into (need to bore accurate taper diameter holes and lube the screws).
