What is the best approach to repair a 7/16 inch hole in the bottom hull ? A bung from the underside with some 5200? Do you need a top plate or 2ā€x2ā€ cover on the bilge side? Iā€™m sure this has been asked before but could not find it in the search option. The boat is a 1957 CC 27ā€™ Sedan with a wood hull. Thank you.

Drill it out to make sure you have clean wood on the edges of the hole. Make a plug out of some mahogany and epoxy it in. Fair it out and prime and paint.
