Bottom Removal on 23 foot Continental

Post by steve bunda » Fri Mar 05, 2021 1:48 pm

Hi All, I decided to remove the bottom today after Laurie removed all the frame, chine , and keel screws. The actual separation of bottom to boat took 10 minutes for this side . Then I cut it up and took it out to the wood burner . I included a picture here of the extreme crack separation due to past filling of the bottom seams with jute rope. But regardless a bottom that has been caulked that is 60 years old has done gone way past it's engineered life.
