Do it ORIGINAL- Chris-Craft knew how to properly play up the styling. Use the ink blue for the hull, the light blue for the cabintops, and pay attention to the contrasting colors in the roof contours. A lot of Chris-Craft's original styling vision can be lost when 'whitewashing' an older cruiser to reduce upkeep...it happened all the time. Celebrate the boat for everything she is by getting the paint job right (and everything else, too!) I'm excited to see your progress...how many can possibly have survived?

I'm with Grant. I'm sure an outfit like Kirby's could work with you to get it close if you had a reference. Close is all that's needed in my view. My skiff is a Blue/Gray (pic in a recent Skiff Group string). It changes quite a bit depending on light conditions. That picture that Grant posted was an early inspiration for me to look further than the standard marine blues. I do remember seeing a Petitt chart online with some colors in this range (water blue?) that might suit, but I don't have easy access to their paints here. In the end, I went to a number of home paint stores and borrowed chits until I found what I wanted. The company's color I chose can be cross referenced into a local store's poly fortified porch and floor alkyd enamel.
You have my vote. I think it would look killer.

That is a bad as heck photo of the boat . It looks awesome !!!!!!!!They only made 38 of them so I would imagine theres not to many left. It is too bad that the style never caught on . Thanks for the advice . I will have to figure out how to get the blue mixed up .

I've got several gallons and 8 or 9 quarts of Interlux chris craft blue yacht enamel paint that they discounted years ago. I don't have a picture of the color but maybe someone on here does. Let me know if your interested.

I used to used CC Charcoal Blue on my '58 30' skiff. It made it look less doudie. There was also a CC Midnight Blue we used on my father's '63 34' skiff. I think '61 might have used the charcoal blue. There was a '61 here in a local marina that was painted that color. The charcoal blue was an an eggshell sort of finish. Not much gloss. The Midnight Blue was brighter but definately not gloss.
