ASTOUNDING BOAT! Probably the only one left of its kind anywhere in the world. Got in over my head with this project and need someone to bail me out. I am still available to work on her for another year, but can no longer afford to own her. Call me, Frank Dzurik, at (216) 965-2401. Save this whale!

When you post a reply down below the "Preview" "Submit" there is a tab that says Upload attachment.

That is where you upload pictures.

VERY COOL :!:

Way more than I can even think about.

If you don't have any luck here try Bone Yard Boats. They may be able to help find someone for you.

Thanks for sharing photos of this very significant model!

This is the first one I've seen outside of the evocative cover-art of the '61 Sea Skiff catalog (available to browse in Archives/Marketing Materials on CCABC website). A really gutsy move from Chris-Craft, and really worth efforts to preserve it. I can imagine the crowd it would draw at classic wooden boat shows. If you have time, I'd love to see some shots of the cabin...the '61 Skiff catalog has a cutaway illustration of the interiors with a really sleek, open Midcentury Modern/Jetsons vibe.

If anyone got a chance to see the cover-boat of the '61 Sea Skiff catalog mentioned in my previous post, look carefully at all the clever details Chris-Craft worked into this precedent-shattering design: The reverse-curve is echoed in the factory bow-pulpit; all the reverse-rake upright windshield and window-frame members are at identical angles and are repeated in the stern railings; the curtains in the cabin are pinned back at the same angle, too! (this would involve a bit of work at your boat shows to get the right effect)...and my absolute favorite detail- the MAST! Look at the way the mast grows from a simple swelling of the windshield's center post, through the bridge roof, and juts FORWARD to the flying-saucer masthead light fixture, while the yardarms sweep BACKWARD like most other CC cruiser masts, and the guy-wires rake BOTH directions, at complementary angles, to form a Modernist sculpture-in-the-round that Alexander Calder would be proud of.

This design is mind-blowing- a shame it didn't catch on. I can see echoes of North Sea fishing trawlers and exploration vessels in the reverse-slant bridge theme, can't you?

Hope you find her a new home, a very worthy boat. It was a radical design in it's day.

Wish I was 20 years younger and $500,000 richer. Its a great boat. There was one here in MI that found a new home a few years ago. It was painted the original 1962 Charcoal Blue. The hull has the same lines as the early 40' trunk cabin form '56 or '57.

Great! Buying a big Cruiser and letting us know on Pearl Harbor day.......don't let this project sneak attack you....take it easy and don't bite off big chunks at the same time...space them out and enjoy the ride.

Wishing you good look and godspeed, a lottery win, and patience.

The darker the color, more the defects will show.

Well it's almost spring I guess I need to finallize plans to get the 42 seaskiff floatable so I can tow it back to Syracuse to start restoration work .I was going to side tow it w/ the roamer through the canal. I am going to paint it the original paint scheme and I am going to put the 390s in here to be close to original power. She will take a couple of years to restore !!!!Then I will save her for retirement to travel and live aboard. I am nervous about such a large resto I have alot of work to do !!!!We will have alot of fun w/it so here goes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Another woodie saved yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As to the color choice. The commoent about dark colors showing defects I would suggest that the original colors were flat or what you might call "egg shell" low gloss. A high gloos paint surely will show defects but the low gloss hides them. I used CC charcoal blue on my '58 30' Sea Skiff Express for years to hide the grainy plywood and the surface checking. In gloss white that hull looks really terrible.

yep, Jim Evans is right.....gloss shows all.....for years I let my paint guy use a marine paint, oil based, gloss, on my seastrake and I am going to switch this year to non gloss house paint above the water line....marine paints are too damn hard and brittle when the set up to be good for wooden boats....in my opinion anyway....after years of the "other".....

The CC low gloss charcoal blue and midnight blue were very soft paints. They didn't check very much even on plywood. I think the majority of CC cruisers leaving the factory had low gloss or flat paint. Gloss it too hard except for the very best surface.

One of the rarest of all Chris Craft designs. Too radical for most of the public to buy. Hence you have a very rare boat! Best to you on your restoration!
