silver piping/hide'em for seats

Post by fozbuzz » Tue Aug 19, 2014 1:08 pm

My '59 17' Sportsman still has most of the original interior--red w/silver piping. I have found the piping (silver tinsel cording) thru an auto fabric supply, but no one seems to have the hide'em (sp.?) for hiding the staples--anybody know a source? Thanks!! Foz

You might check out SMS out of Oregon they carry or make a lot of special items . It takes some time but my best guess would be them. the silver welt what size did you get? example 5/32" .

I have never seen silver hidem but you will find the silver piping as shown in the photo of my 57 Capri. You can also find the same information on the Buzz that shows a chart with the upholstery samples of what was offered.

SILVER WELT NO PLASTIC COATING
I did a Chris Craft for a customer and found the silver welt under the many layers of upholstery it was silver but had no plastic covering I saved it and it is the same style seat as shown I have even made some for other customers. I purchased the welt with the plastic covering it does come in gold also. but I believe yours was silver but no plastic encasing. 1959 18' continental
