Can't really help you with this, but do you know if these are original? My boat did not have any and I have not seen any. I suppose these were for the flybridge.

Page 60 of the CC brochure from 1950 shows an angled port shot from the aft with companion flybridge seating, broken into 2 sections such as these are... except mind didn't come with the two young ladies as the brochure illustrates. I also looked at the price schedule, and it it states "Chairs: 2". I don't know what that means (possibly saloon chairs?). Regardless, I'm 99% sure these are original from the factory just given the springs & stuffing inside of them. However, I have been known to be wrong before

.
Will look through some more photos in the archives though.
Cheers,
Jeremy Campbell

If it was me doing the seats I would recomend using sunbrella boat canvas. I know they sell sunbrella for deck chairs and such, but once the canvas softens from use , you will have a seat that will last for years to come. Also have the upholster use a natural welt cord not plastic. The natural is more flexible and soft when the edge is under you'r thigh .also be careful on the foam, its not all the same.
Also think about density , foam is rated in density a fr 185 makes a good back pillow pad, when the green foam makes a good seat cushion . The numers will change from supplier. A quality piece of foam is worth a couple $$ . And last, if I was keeping the seats exposed I would make a slip bag to cover when not in service.

Thanks for this info Stanley...especially regarding the difference in foams to be using for seating vs. pillow type applications. I'll feel a little more knowledgeable when I bring these in for their rebirth!

Jeremy,
How's it going? I did look at a bunch of these old photos and yes those chairs look original. Now it seems I have something else to try and find as I don't have the original chairs. Anyhow, something to keep my eyes peeled for.

Does anyone know if these are the same type that were used as 'Bridge Seats (reversible)' in the cockpit of e.g. the Express Cruisers pre 1950?
Specifically the 1948 34' Express...
I am looking for a pair of seats like that!
