Hi I am looking for some help.
I work at the International Boatbuilding Training College (IBTC) in England and we are currently restoring a 1942 18' Utility deluxe.
Do any of the members have any photographs or records on what the cockpit/ cabin looked like on the original boats of this class?
The one we have which is called "Anne" with a hull number of 81353 has a yellow vinyl lining with blue vinyl seating. the engine cover is a combination of the blue with yellow vinyl. We are trying to find out if this is original? Also the sole boards are covered in rectangular vinyl tiles mainly off white with grey detail is this also original.
I have attached some photographs and would appreciate any help or advice you could provide.
Thanks in Advance
Kevan

I have restored two of these boats. It should have marble-ized linoleum on the floor and planking on the inside hull. Please submit any other questions and I will do my best to answer them.

Thanks Jim,
We thought that yellow vinyl didn’t seem right, we are just at the fit out stage, it needed re wiring, which is just about complete . The instruments and engine have been overhauled. And we are onto fitting the boards next. I will remove the yellow vinyl and see what’s underneath, I think it would look great with the varnished planking. I can’t wait to get it finished and out on the water!
Thanks for the kind offer to help, I will come back here if I have any questions.
Kind regards
Kevan

Look at the plumbing on the top of Jim's engine. Yours should look like that.
