Missing Capacity Plate

Post by 71Lancer19 » Fri Aug 29, 2014 1:58 pm

I just picked up my first Chris Craft, a 1971 Lancer 19. It seems to be missing a capacity plate. I believe this is a federal requirement. Where can I have one made? Is there a way to get original hull plates or replicas?

The newest boat I have had is a 1972. I do not believe they had capacity ratings back then.

That is a much newer requirement. Nothing to be worried about.

Here's the plate from my '69 Commander SS. Essentially the same hull as the Lancer 19.

Thanks for the pic and the info! If anyone has a picture of these plates on a 71 era lancer, I'd like to see it. I'm curious if there is a way to get replica plates or reproductions just for the sake of restoration. However, I don't know where they were originally positioned from the factory.

Early 19' Lancers with the drop down side panels had them on the shift mounting board. Later(around 1970) they were moved to the side of the hatch opening.
