Jerry, there is another boat that you should take a look at. It is on our Trading Dock site ate http://www.tradingdock.org/1102
The 8 Meter was a short lived model offered in the late seventies....actually called the XK 8 Meter. This is the fist one of these that I have seen for sale for years.
This boat is similar to go-fasts of today, but it has a really unusual layout with a helm station farther aft, and two buckets ahead of the helm station. Forward of that there is a small cuddy.
This boat looks to be very well done. It's over in Denmark.

Bill,
Sweet!
Nice restoration. Note the teak floor. The detail looks excellent. We can note the name "Bollanger" on the transome. We wouldn't suspect its a CC XK (8 meter). Nice. Its surprising the CC go fast boats didn't last or become more popular. For tupperware, the XK, Lancer and Stingers are a hot ride.
8 meters would be perfect on the San Francisco Bay. The 202 Stinger is a little short for the Bay. The average swell is 14' which makes it borderline in a 20' go fast boat. We made one run to the Golden Gate Bridge from Jack London Sq. in the 202 but it has to be on a calm day. An 8 meter would be better.
Wonder what shipping form Denmark would run? And, thanks for the reminder about the Trading Dock.
Best to you and your family cleaning up after the horrible flood.

Hey guys,
This boat resides in Stockholm,Sweden and not Denmark. Ive actually seen it a couple times but not close up.
I think it still is docked about a mile from where I live.
All the red parts on the hull are metal flake!

Back some time ago while I was working on my "old" 1957 32' Commander in the "barn boating" building (this is the place where way too much of my boating happens)a fellow pulled in to a spot in the building a bay or two down with a 31' Fiberglass Chris Craft Stinger open, console fishing machine with two HUGE outboards on it, to store it.
It was a pretty cool boat. It looked pretty much like a regular go- fast boat in profile but it had bait wells and such built in to the cockpit. It had those high rake angle meat cleaver props and hydraulic lift and tilt for the outboards.
The guy said it would do 65 mph, but it burned about 90 gallons of premix an hour and it had something like 350 gallon tanks. Can you imagine paying for a fillup for that today? Ouch!

Panama Canal or Polar Cap route for Peter
Bill,
Here's a thought.
How about Peter run the 8 meter CC cross the Atlantic, cross the Caribbean (checking out the Miami scene), through the Panama Canal, up Baja to SOCAL (checking out Malibu) into San Francisco Bay to a celebration parade of fire boats . Yes!
Better yet, let’s make history. The polar cap is thawing. Peter could just shoot over the top and drop down here making history.
But imagine the long distance fuel tanks for the 8 meter. Yikes.
Bill, Can we put a poll on this to see if readers prefer Peter deliver the 8 meter through the Panama Canal or the thawing polar cap?
