Constellation Group

When the Constellation Group was first available I was able to read the posts. Now I can't! What is the super secret double probation password for the group?

I'm glad to see the new Constellation thread open. Some time ago we had a discussion on BB about creating a "Cruiser's Corner" thread. Well the Connie thread fills some of that. So does the Roamer thread.

I have a 35 ft Sea Skiff cruiser and I note that there are similarities between skiff cruisers and connies of similar age. There are some similarities with Roamers and Caveliers and Crusaders. If you stretch out the time line a bit more the catagory of "Cruisers" would encompass many more models like the Catalina, the Commander, the Bucaneer and more. I'd like to see the board management rethink bringing the concept of "Cruiser's Corner" as a general topic to gather a wide prospective than just a single model like Constellation.

I think the CCABC is dominated by the smaller runabouts and we cruiser owners are not as well represented as we could be.

I second jim Evan's suggestion...a cruiser's corner or some such would be great.

John in VA....I have the answer...
CCABC is called the Chris Craft ANTIQUE Boat Club.
More runabouts are antiques, cruisers are vintage. We could have the CCVC-Chris Craft VINTAGE Club.
But have you heard anybody opening up a VINTAGE Store, most are ANTIQUE Stores,
...or a CLASSIC Store, or even a NOS store :)

I'm perfectly fine with treating the Constellation Group as a Cruisers' Group or establishing a 'Cruisers' Corner'.

So where is the point between antique and vintage? How many of the boats here are more vintage than antique. Certainly, there are not fiberglass boat that fit into antique.

There is already a Commander (Fibreglas) group. There are some simlarities on the cruisers all the way back to the 40's. Not sure where Antique would divide from Classic. Regardless of where the division is I do think there are many commonalities between the years and both can coexist.

Per 2013 ACBS
HISTORIC, Boat up to 1918,
ANTIQUE, 1919-1942
CLASSIC 1943-1975

CCCC Chris Craft Commander Club will also take Connies and Roamers and do have a very large rendezvous in August(?) to rival Chris Craft Rendezvous

The discussioin about antique vs vintage or classic is moot to me. I don't know of a board that has so much useful interchange between members.

There is another extensive forum for mainly Connies, you may see some familiar CCABC names

Yeah right, the CCCC can put more linear footage on the dock than CCR? Last year we had over 3,380 feet at the show. Do you see a challenge here? But remember! Your are all welcome to CCR 2014 and we do have about 15 Commanders already coming......

I think this is why the board was reluctant to start the Constellation Group in the first place. Since Connies were built under the the main Chris Craft Division they did not want to seem exclusive or open a can of worms for every model out there.

I like the Constellation Group but would not be at all offended if it was renamed "Cruiser Corner" to include a wider fan base.

I LOVE the Skiff Cruisers, Roamers, Cavalier Cruisers ............. actually I pretty much like all boats.

I was one of those that have urged BB Mgmt. to activate the Constellation Enthusiasis Group. I was looking for a way to discuss those issues peculiar to Cruisers, especially Wood Cruisers. I am also 'not offended' to have this become a Cruiser Corner with Sea Skiff, Cavaliers, Roamers etc. included.
