XK-22 Aquired. Now... what do i actual have?

Post by [email protected] » Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:48 pm

Hello, new to here... i have been searching for a XK as a project for awhile, now i have one. Im currently trying to ascertain what i have. The boat was retitled in 1992 in Massachusetts (their "make all vintage boats Coast Guard HIN compliant" bs). So...i have the bow CC HIN, but the 3rd to last number is damaged/obscured.ORAZ 22 00_0V. The damaged digit looks most like a 2. Any help, knowledge, direction, etc would be most welcome. TIA.

Congrats of getting an XK22! But on my 1972 XK22, CC also put the hull number on a brass plate attached to the underside of the hatch over the engine, also on the plastic capacity plate attached to the side locker next to the pilot's seat, under the steering wheel. And they glassed a set of yellow and black letters and numbers to the inside of the transom that are also the hull number.

If it is not in any of those locations, I would look into maybe seeing if you could do a title search or maybe contact whoever handles the registration numbers on boats in your area to see is there is any sort of search that would help you find the original hull number.

Good Luck,
Ron Michael
