I'm getting a KBL up and running. I noticed an adjustment knob on the water pump. I've read quite a few posts here and never saw a mention about it.
What does it do and how should it be adjusted?

Hi Jim, that is a grease cup. If you unscrew that cap, you keep it packed with water pump grease and turn it on a few threads. Before you go out for a day of boating, you tighten the cup a turn to push a little grease into the pump to keep it lubed.
Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.

Thanks, Captain! More to learn about these old boats.

Do be sure to use a water pump grease as it doesn't congeal and wash away as fast as regular axle type grease. A greased pump will prime quicker too.
