1950 Riveria Part numbers

Post by allanguhl » Thu Oct 29, 2015 8:40 pm

Hello, this is my first time restoring a boat and I would like to find out what is the best way to get part numbers for many parts, lets say I am looking for hall vents how do I know if its a 3611 or 4536 ? or Bow lights ? I got a Hall package but it was no help, I am always looking on E-Bay for parts I just want to make sure I am getting the right ones. I am restoring a 1950 Riveria

Welcome to the world of antique boat restoration. When it comes to finding out what's original and figuring out the way it was, parts numbers won't do you much good. You need to do a bit of research. Look on line at old advertising material, find the photo of your boat in The Essential Guide by Jerry Conrad, search out and look at restored examples, and hopefully there's another owner with an original boat just like yours willing to share photos and information. There's probably an example in the hull registry somewhere. For me a big part of the restoration process is sleuthing around trying to figure out what's original and what's not. Hardware parts can be tough to find, but if you look hard enough and long enough it's usually out there. Have Fun and Good Luck!

Most of your cast parts have casting numbers that often translate into part numbers.

The easiest way is to just ask (here).

Welcome aboard! You came to the right place. There is a wealth of information and knowledgeable and helpful people on this site. My suggestion to you is ask questions. I own a 53 Riviera, and I have noticed on other posts that there are some minor differences between the 50 and 53 Rivs. The dash arrangement (starter/key location), bow light, etc.

Half the fun is figuring out what was correct for your boat, so lean on us for information.

Good luck.

How long ago did you get your hull package? My package for my '48 Dlx Runabout came with a Chris Craft Hull Parts List document which included the numbers for all of the major hardware on the boat. The consensus is that this may be a new find for the museum. You might want to contact them and ask if it is available for your boat.

Good Luck

I got my Hall package about 6 months ago, and I even called them they told me for my 1950 Riveria they didn't have a parts list,so if anyone with a 1950 Riveria I can sure use some help.

Jim Staib at finewoodboats.com is a good resource for this type of information. Plus he carries most of the parts at reasonable prices. It's a one stop shop!

Did you ask the museum if any of the Riviera factory drawings call out the hardware numbers? One of the drawings I ordered for my hull shows the pattern numbers for all of the deck and underwater hardware.
