Hull card

Post by victor » Mon Dec 02, 2013 4:05 pm

I am restoring my Chris Craft Capri 19" 1955, and when I got the boat there was no seat installed. The only info I have about the boat are ID number CP-19-158, i was wondering if someone can help me with info about the original color on the seat, the panels are black and white vinyl, or where I can find such information.

i suspect brian robinson, and probably others, would know. do you have your hull card from the mariners museum? it should indicate colors. also you might check the club archives. very well might be a color 1955 brochure showing upholstery colors and pattern.

Victor,

Your '55 would have had gold, white, and black (alligator) Tolex. The seat backs had all three colors, with the white in a individual stitched-square pattern. Not the easiest interior to reproduce. I have a nice original interior out of a '55 19' Capri you are welcome to borrow when I am through with it.

Get your hull card from Mariners', scan it, post it and report back.

Victor,

I looked at a '55 Capri project boat a few years ago which had red upholstery which was confirmed on the Hull Card as "Red Naugahyde". The card also had a handwritten notation at the end which read "Naugahyde - Red - Leatherette uholstery - installed in place of - Gold and White"

Cheers

A handful had red or blue.. or pink? It would have had to be special ordered that way.

There were no "optional" upholstery colors. The gold, white, black combo is the right look for a stock '55 Capri, most people love it.

It's your boat, you can do what you want, but what is on the hull card is the way it came new.
