Post by mike backstrom » Mon Oct 07, 2013 3:49 pm

pulled a chris craft from a garage yesterday where it has been since the late 80s. it was sold to me as a 1960 18ft ski boat the hull # is cub-17-0255c. i think the 17 is the length and by photo it looks like a 1961 17ft ski boat. can anyone help me with this hull #

is there a good estimate of how many 1961 CC ski boats are left? and were they offered with different color schemes or all w/white paint?

According to the same source, standard finish on the topsides was "natural and white". This probably does not mean natural OR white. The photo shows a varnished hull with a white accent aft. The deck is described as "natural", so the kingplank was most likely in blonde. The upholstery is described as "metallic green with white and gold trim". There are probably some special order deviations out there, but there you have it. Looks like the engine box was upholstered, as well. Time to get a hull card and compare it to what you have. Oh, yea, bottom was copper-bronze. CQ

1961 Ski Boats were varnished decks, the first vinyl decks were introduced in 1962. I am not sure about a blond king plank, I think it was all dark. I would have to do a little digging for photos.

Blond like a 59-60. They had the white on the rear sides and the unique 61 interior.

If I can make this work from my phone, a picture of a 1961 interior will appear below.

I love the white stripe but I will have to go a little more plain on the seats.
