Epifanes Rapidcoat

Post by Jim Godlewski » Wed Mar 17, 2021 7:51 am

Has anyone used this product that can give me their assessment? I'm helping a friend work on a wood boat in a remote location and our time is limited. 24 hour wait per coat is not going to work out well for us. This product states you can overcoat in 6 hours. Just wondering if I should try it. Thanks.

I have used it before and really didn't work for me personally. We go through gallons of varnish here at the shop and I mean literally gallons. I found that it is more expensive to use for one and I loose my place when varnishing because you can not see your wet edge. The first 2 coats work great but then it is so shiny that I loose my place and end up with holidays. In my mind there is nothing better then going through the process that has worked for years and that is roughing up between coats whether it is sanding or scotch-brite. Then I know for sure that the varnish is going to adhere properly.

Thanks Mike! That's what I needed to hear. I'm going to pass on the rapid coat.
