I am still waiting for the last issue to arrive here in Germany.
Have any of our other European members received their issue yet?
Anxiously awaiting all of them.

I never did receive # 3 here in Germany, if somewhere has a slightly used copy they would be willing to forward, that would be great.
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. No Turkey sightings in Deutschland though.

I thought for sure we had our overseas problems fixed but clearly we are not at 100%.

I'll get you one sent out ASAP!

Best

PS. I had an issue come back from Germany sometime ago. I sent an email to the member but never heard back.

Does this address make sense.

Reinhard Hipel
Neuer Wall 42
Hamburg, Hamburg D-20354
Germany

thanks for any help.

If I can get his correct address can I send the issue with yours and have you put in the mail from there?? Maybe he will get it then.

Thanks Don,

I look forward to seeing that issue, and the new one.

Regarding Herr Hipel and his address, I do not see why it would get lost based on the way the address is presented.
In Deutschland, they typically put the zip code before the city. However, this should not be a problem because I receive mail from the states and that format is different. Not sure why he has Hamburg on there twice, but again, should not keep it from being delivered.

This is probably the longest I have ever waited without getting something. German efficiency is a myth by the way, you do not have to live here long to figure that out.

Best regards, Patrick

I got my Brass Bell in OKC, OK this Saturday.

Hipel in Germany sent me his correct address.

Dust, did you get your copy in Germany yet? We spend a ton of money on International shipping. Beyond me why we are having problems. We are considering other options for international

I haven't gotten either #3 or #4. I thought I may have joined too late to get#3 but I am not so sure that is it, now that I haven't gotten #4 either, here in the Los Angeles area.

Well, having just posted that my Brass Bell #4 had not arrived, after putting in a late night for work-related stuff, I saw a stack of mail that had come in, including a large envelope containing Brass Bell #4. Have only had time to scan it, but it looks like a great issue. Though I am presently involved in some cabin cruiser modeling projects, those Barrelback and Cobra articles are making me want to get into my "stash" for my Dumas Barrelback and Cobra kits. At least I know that when I get to them, I will have some great photos!

The apparent variability in delivery times within the continental US is astonishing. They all get mailed on the same day and from the same place. Not much we can do about that, I guess.

Paul, the post office has the same type of people who designed the web site for obamacare, i suspect. Impossible to figure out how they manage the process. In any event, mine arrived today in Seattle. Well worth waiting for.

Don - I hate to point this out, but I think the firm that did the Obamacare website was Canadian, of all things. Why I have no idea, but it is an embarassment to all involved.

Nothing here in Southwest Ohio at this time. Did the post office officially give up Saturday delivery? I haven't gotten a single piece of mail in Saturday in several weeks. Just an observation, I know it has been discussed, has anyone else seen this trend?

I just heard that Canada has decided to eliminate home mail delivery everywhere. Trying to save $. Can the U. S. be far behind? We'll all have to go down to our P.O. to pick up our Brass Bells.

It amazes me that your issue consistently arrives several days to a week or more before mine even though they are coming from the same PO sort facility.

What Canada Post did is start moving toward "super mail boxes" for all, which are clusters of mail boxes every block or two that serve a portion of a neighborhood. These have been used in all new areas for about 20-25 years, and door to door only still existed in areas older than that. No one will have to go to post offices to get mail. I have used this for 17 years and they work fine and my folks (who are in their mid and late 80's) use this system without a problem. I know the USPS is bankrupt and requiring untold billions to keep it going. There is no doubt that postal systems must respond to a collapse in volumes, due obviously to e-mail and online information exchage. It is totally unrealistic to maintain prior service levels. That would be like running a livery stable in 1950 - hopeless. The Canadian Postal service have also raised postage here from .65 cents to $1, which to me indicates they want out of the mail delivery business altogether and would prefer to only delivery parcels. They don't have to cut the service; it will just die as the flight from post mail accelerates. Costs are higher here because of the vastness of the place and the small population. I probably don't mail more than 25 letters a year, so the difference to me is minimal. Technology is making all of this inevitable and rather unsurprising.

For the busiest postal time of the year....it appears that delivery times are quite good.

Good explanation Paul.
