Important Message to All Members‏

Post by mattbyrne » Thu Aug 01, 2013 10:35 am

Just sharing.... below is the contents of an email sent out to all members yesterday.

To all members,

As you all know, we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club. In all those years, the membership has never had a say in the management of the Club, but that is about to change. For the first time ever, the membership will be presented with a slate of potential board members and will be able to vote for any of them. Our current board is composed of six members but we would like to move up to seven. Two of the current members are not up for re-election, so we will be voting to fill five places. The five candidates who receive the most votes-plus the two holdovers- will be our new board.

If you, or someone you know, would like to be on that ballot, simply present his or her name and qualifications to the nominating committee. The committee will select the members who they think would best fill the needs of the club and those names will be on the ballot. If you submit a name and it is not selected by the committee, you will still have an option to have it placed on the ballot. To do so, you must present a petition signed by 100 members of the Club, as per the Club-By-laws. (By-laws are on line at www.chris-craft.org, under "Boat Buzz" > "Club Business.")

While the board is composed of members from all walks of life, potential candidates should have business experience in the financial or IT areas, prior board experience, and basic computer skills. Almost all Board business is conducted by email.

We encourage as many people as possible to submit names and contribute to the management of the Club we enjoy so much.

On Aug 31, 2013, the nominations will be posted on the Chris-Craft home page. If you are not on the ballot but feel you should be, you will have until October 1, 2013 to present a petition signed by 100 members. If you do this, you will be added to the ballot.

After October 15, 2013, you will receive an electronic ballot so you can cast your vote. The full ballot will be available on the website for those who would prefer to mail in a response. Voting will end Dec. 15, 2013.

Names and short resumes should be submitted to the Nominations Committee, Attn: Jim Frechette, no later than Aug 24, 2013 at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Jim Frechette
Board of Directors
Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club
