Family Connections On the Water

If it doesn't pertain to metal, wood, wire or fabric—but it is about vintage Chris-Crafts, ask your question or give your advice here.

Family Connections On the Water

Post by Al Benton » Wed Jan 14, 2015 3:22 pm

I want to share a great video that was sent to Don Ayers recently by Craig Brooks. The film is not only about a family and their Connections On the Water; its also about an amazing restoration of a 1948, 33-foot Chris-Craft Deluxe Enclosed Cruiser named Andante (a musical term meaning Moderately Slow). Its a fitting name that represents the patience and endurance of Crag's father and fellow member of the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club, in the restoration of this cruiser.

I think that you will enjoy it.

Great video! Sounds like a familiar story.... Really sums up the reason we do what we do.

So true!

As with William Brooks, I too wish that I would started doing this at a much younger age. I like the Aristotle quote that hangs in his shop "For the things we need to know before we can do them, we learn by doing them". So true, especially those of us who have never restored an old wood Chris-Craft, or any other boat. We learned by doing it.

Great Story! She's very similar to my 1948 Double Stateroom Enclosed so I can relate to what it took to bring her back, but obviously well worth all the time and effort. Nice touch adding a bow thruster and transom door. Thanks for sharing it.
