Chris Craft production #'s
I am curious to know what the top 5 models most popular produced by CC were, and how many of each were built. Has anyone ever figured that out? If so, could you post the answer? I know boats were often built in surprisingly low production volumes, even boats which we think of as somewhat common.
Thanks

I can hear the flutter of pages as the Essential Guide is being checked and the tally taken in the race for the quickest response!

I have a Power point that Jerry did years ago for the 2005 symposium. If I could get it in a different format I could post.

I am thinking post war utilities will be at the top. Probably the 17 and 22 sportsman. Eagerly waiting the results.

I had my suspicions...... and I will take a guess with just a cursory look through the Great Blue Bible.

I left my Guide back at home when I left three weeks ago and I am not sure when I will see it again, perhaps not for two months so I thought I'd throw the question up here.

I was at the Jerry Conrad presentation and if I recall correctly and this was a surprise to all, the largest volume boat made by Chris-Craft by far, was the 8 ft pram kit boat.

Does a kit really count? They weren't the builder of those boats, just designer and materials supplier.

Aw come on..... they were all cut out ready to go together... so ..
but we could rephrase the question.... which completed boat was the largest number built.

Re: Chris Craft production #'s
I understand they made the kits, but when the boat was completed and registered, was CC listed as the builder or the person who assembled it? Perhaps it is my aircraft background speaking. In that world it is very clear and very important that the kit manufacturer is NOT the builder.

I would argue that cc is the builder.. but otoh some of the kits produced certainly never got built

Re: Chris Craft production #'s
If we are really going to start slicing our peas here, we need to seperate the kit boats delivered to the dealer assembled by Chris Craft from the boats shipped in the box to be assembled by someone else.
For what its worth, I believe kit cars are titled by manufacturer of the kit, not the assembler.
