It is N.C.F.R. A fire rated product from Homosote. I had the Homosote factory rep. hunt down a sheet of it for me. It was about $70 a sheet.

The more I look at that boat, the more I like it. I think I will order a closed bow in Mahogany color. Do you take old ones for trade?

The sound board material is NCFR made by Homosote. It is still available. I had the factory RFP from Homosote track down a sheet of it for me earlier this year.

If you are going with new drain tubing (probably a smart move) you can just get a bearing that will friction fit in place, and slide it down the tube. That is how mine was held in place.

The inner sleeve was just a set of ball bearings. Measure the I.D. Of the sleeve, and the O.D. Of the throttle tube, and I am sure you can find a replacement bearing set.

I took the entire assembly out of the boat. I cut two 2x4's slightly longer than the entire assembly, and then sandwiched the column with the 2x4's so the 2x4's supported the steering wheel. I stood it vertically on end and did the PB Blaster and heat deal, and tapped it with the block and hammer. O...

Remove all the chrome from the top of the steering column. Loosen the nut at the top of the steering column and hit it with PB Blaster and let it soak for a long time. Replace the nut at the top of the steering column but make sure it is above all exposed threads. Some heat may help on the center me...

Battery Strapped

I have a 53 Riviera, and the hull card says "Battery Strapped". Can anyone shed some light on this? Was it a permanent strap, and if so, what did it look like?

Thank you in advance.

Also Seth Katz of Katz's Marina (973-663-3214) says he has what is left of the original white naughahyde (used for the upper trim and dash) he bought from the guy who did all the upholstry at the CC factory. You may want to contact him.

Here are some pics from an original 53 Riviera tank hull #927. The tank is 36" long x 13" diameter. The filler tube is 2" and at the 20" mark when measured from the starbord side of the tank, followed by the 1/2" overflow at 24 1/2", and then the 3/4" supply at 28" Note the centerline of the tank is...

What is your Hull # ? Mine is 927 and was wondering if this one is a close relative. If so, could you post a picture of the battery box?
