Re: 1958 CC - KFL Engine - Electric Fuel Pump

Some fuel pumps don't have a retainer to keep the check valves in and they rely on a pressed fit. There are a few tricks to properly install these that I would be happy to share with you. The mechanical pump can in fact be very reliable and safe if serviced properly Please feel free to give a call o...

Re: 1942 K Motor plugs rapidly fouling

There are several possibilities that I would take a look at. First make sure that your choke is wide-open don't rely on the position of the knob on the dash. Take the flame arrester off and look at the position of the butterfly. The early model K had an adjustable high-speed jet. I If you have one I...

Hi Jim
Not a good idea to open the ID. There needs to be a tight fit to keep the pulley from wobbling. Just clean the shaft and pulley and use a bit of never Seez on the shaft when you put it back on.

Re: Water Pump uh oh...

The pump in question is not an impeller pump it is a gear pump. To do it properly requires quite a bit of machining It also requires three bronze bushings two custom-made gears a ball bearing a mechanical seal and possibly two shafts to finish the job it also requires assorted gaskets and stainless ...

Re: prop direction wall of confusion

Hi If you push the lever forward on the transmission it should be in forward gear. Look at the shaft and see if it's rotation is clockwise If it is you simply need a RH prop. If you listen to the trans it will be noisier in reverse because of the planetary gear whine ... you cant miss it Try shiftin...

The HJA or HJAD Direct Drive was used on the 430 Lincoln engine. It had very few applications elsewhere. It is significantly more complicated than the HF7 or the P Series Gears from Paragon. Even if the rebuilder had the parts on the shelf, he could still spend 2 full days from start to finish to pr...

Re: No Start After Lunch on Chesapeake

Hi I think the needle may have stuck in the seat in the carb. This can happen from a jolt from a wave jamming the needle into the seat or from some dirt holding the needle from moving freely. Either one can resolve itself. I don't think it is vapor lock as the fuel bowl is well vented. If it occurs ...

Hi There are two types of cooling systems on the model 70 The most common one is the earlier engine where he water pump is mounted on the oil cooler and driver by the generator. We sell many kits for many pumps. Most importantly we guide customers so they can properly rebuild there pump. Not something you will get from "Throw it in the box and ship it companies" Pretty sure I speak for the othe listed companies.

If it shifts into reverse ok but not forward it could be that the reverse band is set up too tight. This would lug the engine down at idle.

Hi
The fitting in the block is the correct compression fitting for 1/4 in. copper tube. At some point the tube was repalced in the boat with 1/8 in. The only fix is to replace the tubing in the boat or make a adapter pig tail. if not a show boat this is the easiest way to go.

Yes i agree. That is why I think that the efficiency of your pump is down. If the back cover has wear the amount of water at higher speeds will fall off.

Hi
Your engine temp is not to high but also not typical. What happens if you go to 3500??
If you have a impeller pump it may need a new cam or cover plate!
