Re: New to the hobby!

Dry weight I'd guess the weight at 2400-2500 lbs without the interior and adding the 327 & fiberglass. Find a good marine surveyor and have it gone through. Once you know where the hidden problems lie you'll know where to start. If no major problems are found you maybe able to go for a boat ride bef...

I would assume 800 lbs for motor & trans, and 1800 lbs for the hull

I second the CP bronze question, and wonder how many are using CP Stainless or other for the CP trim.

Motor Box replacement

in 1959 moving to the V-8, the factory built vinyl wrapped motor boxes with a cut out which I assumed the carb had a little air flow. If you were building a new box would you replicate or just raise the box a half an inch? I'm adding a blower but thought I'd pick your brains. 1/2" plywood top with a...

Re: Weight of 1959 Capri 19

Also consider how you will use it. Long hauls, frequency, etc. If it's only to and from a summer lake place where it sits on a lift you can get by with a lot less trailer. If you plan on showing it around the country buy all the trailer you can afford. :D

In the 50-60's we would have said Caulk it, in the 60-early 70's we would have said fiberglass, then we moved to the West system thru early 80's and now 5200 is the answer. In 20 years they will be laughing at the 5200 bottoms because we should be using the next space age technology. Each boat, cond...
