Re: thermostats

A lot has been written about proper engine temps. Our vintage marine engines tend to run cooler but 100 is not warm enough.

really you should be around 160-180 so that moisture and acids in the oil are properly broken down.

I don;t know why you could not use a standard auto T stat??

Anyone??

What you are wanting to do has been done many many times prior. No real issue with an HF7 to my knowledge. Done it myself and it's a strong gear. There are differences in the block of the original 283 and a 350 core most notably the crank case breather. You will have to vent the block through the va...

There was also a full rebuild article in a recent past Brass Bell.

Gears are usually always overlooked and it sounds like you need a rebuild.

Larry Hinton in OKC does them.

Here is a pic of my Riva gear. Not the same but you get the idea.

As far as reading all you have to do is click on the + (plus) sign to enlarge the issue in your screen.

As for printing I'll have to check. I'd like to get to where we can fulfill old issues but we are not there yet. All the old issues we have are in storage.

For me it's all about where the stern is going to go when you put it into reverse! If you master this then you know how to set yourself up for success. As Mike just said, the set up is all important and then you let the boat do the rest because it wants to do things only one way....its way! Slow spe...

Excellent point about figuring out how the heck to navigate this and other CCABC benefits.

We are currently working on a TOTAL revamp of this site and other benefits with this in mind.

I have personally looked through every single pre-war photo in the Mariner's Museum archive. There are a ton of cruiser shots that most people have never seen. they are arranged by model. your best bet is to contract Patti at the MM and; 1. Verify your hull number and model 2. Ask for B&W photo copi...

jim; The Articles are different than the By-Laws. The initial Articles were to establish the first BOD's with a specific term. In the By-Laws under Section II Directors, line H you will find the provision for establishing a staggered term BOD. It may not be perfect but we will execute this plan as b...

Frank thanks for the support.

The CCABC never had these until now. They are not perfect but a good start and we now have something to work with and modify moving forward.

The Board will continue to create the proper foundation for a lasting Club long into the future

Great Story:

You should write this up for the Brass Bell someday.

I think you need to go into this knowing you will need to rebuild most of it.

If you have the time, talent and space then try it yourself.

If you have the money I would have a reputable restorer do the hull and then you finish it.
