Jeff,
I don't have experience with the WB. That said, the Hercules Ks don't have that gasket/oil seal at the flywheel end.

The face of the rim on mine is totally smooth I think Razzmatazz (71923) is two months ( June 18, 1942) earlier than yours. Her wheel is smooth like yours. This wheel was wasted when the boat ar...

NEW WATER for OLD BOATS

Al, Thanks for bringing your cruises event over to this thread. Perhaps others will follow with their suggestions or experiences. While we have a number of places to boat in NorCal, most of the country remains unfamiliar territory for our boating. It wouldn't take much imagination join cruisers and ...

NEW CRUISES in OLD BOATs- 2010

Friends- Here is an invitation for all to suggest different courses around the USA for 100+ MILE CRUISES (MEGA CRUISES) . The objective here is to list as many different long cruises 17' runabouts cold reasonably make around the country. Larger runabouts & cruisers, of course, would have greater opt...

Al & Ken, Thanks for the cruise details. I'll open a thread seeing if we can lay out a series of cruises perhaps starting with Jacksonville-Mt Dora, Tennessee River, Mississippi etc. We missed the Hudson River Cruise several years ago and are too small (17') for that water anyway. Come on over to th...

trailer bunks

Tyson, Hope you can participate in many wood boat shows with your beauty. That may involve long trips with the boat on the trailer. In that regard, could you shoot more bottom pictures of this trailer with the boat on it? It looks like there may just be one (1) set of bunks this boat rides on. These...

Ken, Thanks for this. I've read about the Tennessee River navigation issues in different magazines from time to time. How is the river as navigable water now? Does the TVA and flood control today tame " the problem child of navigation?" We are curious because we will lead a 100 mile cruise in May on...

Tyson,
Congratulations, what a beauty. Hope you have years of fun. Looks like a nice restoration. Enjoy.

The red bow straps could put a load on the deck you probably want to avoid. A strap over the rudder or prop strut should keep her on the trailer bunks.

Bill, Welcome to CCABC and The Buzz. Modest maintenance is the best insurance. Generally, change the oil and filter (if there is one) at the end of the season. Store engine at the end of the season properly winterized (see those threads on the Buzz) with fresh oil to reduce internal engine corrosion...

Welcome to CCABC and The Buzz.

Shipping costs vary and are difficult to predict in this economy. But, a contractor hauled one from Ohio to North CA for $1800 in 2003. Another hauled a second from KY to CA 2007 for $1400. Hard to tell what pricing is now. Good luck.

Jim,
Do you recommend propylene glycol in fresh water engines in temperate (no freeze) zones when on the hard during the winter?

When changing the KBLs freeze plugs, surface rust is visible inside the block's water jackets. Would propylene glycol eliminate that surface rust?

Re TDC- how about pulling #1 plug. Put finger over #1 plug hole and turn engine by hand until you feel compression and rotate until psi stops. Look at flywheel mark (1 of 10) for TDC. May not have to remove the manifold.
