Yes. It is.

Make sure that you seal your new wood with CPES, the several coats of barrier coat primer before bottom paint.

No adjustment that I know of. Can you post a photo of the steering box ?

Can you describe what is happening in more detail ?

Ditto for the knife switch. Probably not the modern no arc types that are fully enclosed.

Re: Looking for Help Deciphering My Hull Card...

Looks like "extra shaft nut and key" to me which would make sense as they could get lost off of the prop shaft.

Re: Howard feed and wax wood polish and conditioner

Some peddler came to my house once and claimed that he could wax my hardwood floors so they would be shinier than ever.

After throwing him out we got the insurance check from his company and had the floors professionally stripped and refinished.

No wax on as everyone is saying.

General Error

For the past week or so I have been getting a "General Error" when trying to log into Boat Buzz. There is more information after the error that makes it sound like too many users are either logged in or trying to log in. I am not a General so I am confused as to why I am getting this error. Anyone e...

Re: Setting Up Bunks On a New Trailer

Your best bet is to lift the boat with an overhead hoist structure and then lower it close to the trailer and adjust the bunks with the hull right there. After that lower onto the trailer and see if you have any gaps between the hull and bunks and make some final adjustments to eliminate them. You s...

Re: Inside storage in Michigan

Don,

The heater that I am referring to goes into the pool of water (submersed) so the worst that you are going to end up with is warm water.

Re: Inside storage in Michigan

I tried a new tact last winter that worked out really well since we had some very cold dry spells. I am outside in an unheated portable garage with a recycled asphalt floor. I built a trough out of 2 x 6 lumber and plastic sheeting and filled it with water and put it under the boat. I went to Tracto...

Also you can purchase an accelerant spray for the super glue that will dry it almost instantly and help prevent running.

If you don't stop and re-start a lot and your bilge pump doesn't run too long you should be okay.

In this unrestored engine photo it is the white vertical item to the right of the coil. No longer needed with Pertronix.

I have only installed my KL and it has 4 identical wedges.

I was hoping someone with your engine type would comment on the pieces and where they go.

Re: Engine Mounts Ski Utility (another attempt)

The motor mounts don't get their final position until the engine is in the boat and you check the alignment between the shaft and transmission couplings.

You make your final angle ajustments by moving the mounts back and forth.

You may even have to shim one or more mounts if you are way off.

What do you have for engines ?

I am pretty sure that I remember being able to adjust the voltage internally in the generator by taking the cover off on my KL.

Re: 1965 283 Chevy engine: Generator vs. alternator

Mark, I had a similar issue even after having my generator checked and it turned out to be the cutoff relay. If you have the one with the metal cover take the cover off and look at the internals. Mine was so corroded that the plates would not make contact any more. After a good cleaning it works gre...

There is way more information needed about your process to form an opinion.

Did you use CPES ? If so how and when did you apply it ? What were the humidity conditions then versus when you applied the barrier coat primer ?

Without information some people get FRUSTRATED .

Re: Shunt for 283 1959 Continental

The use of a shunt is dependent upon the type of gauge that you have for current (ammeter). If it is a true ammeter and measures current directly then you do not need a shunt and you have to limit your wiring through it to lower current devices (lights and accessories - not a horn it will just peg t...

Well if you are expecting someone to reply and say "oh a 2.2V drop is definitely the ......" you may not get it. In the mean time I would suggest that you either remove the possible offending items that you mentioned or jumper them out one at a time and see when and if the voltage goes back up to 12...
