Mike,
What do you use for leather?
I've been using Lexol but if there is something better, let me know.
Thanks,
Niel

Re: Recommended KBL Engine Oil
I am in Florida and am using Shell Rotella 40W in my "K" engine. The factory recommended 30W but As we are a much warmer climate here in FL, I have opted for 40W.
Any thoughts on using the thicker 40w vs the original 30w?
Thank you,
Niel

Re: Proper prop for 19' BB with K engine
Capt. Nemo, Thank you for the reply. That is what I have been told as well. I was just a bit confused, the prop that came on my boat was 13x13 and it came from an elevation of 5000ft. In looking at information on proper sizing for elevation changes, the general wisdom is to go larger at lower elevat...

Proper prop for 19' BB with K engine
My boat's hull card shows it was delivered with a 7907 "Wheel" according to the charts this would have been 12x12 1/2 x1
I have a 12x12x1 super cup on my boat now would this be the best prop for my boat? I can run at 3000 rpm at WOT and cruise at 2500 rpm.
Thank you,
Niel

Matt, I was hoping we could mount an expedition to "Raise Satin Doll" which could be a great series on Woody Boater! I actually received a very nice note from Paul Harrison about Satin Doll, which now resides in Michigan and was renamed "Noah's Ark" Mike from Maritime Classics cares for the boat for...

Am I to understand from the previous post that there is an orange deck seam 19' 1940 Custom at the bottom a a lake in Canada that might be available for purchase? I'm hoping that the wood is preserved due the the lack of oxygen and due to the cold temperatures(similar to "Ice Man" and HMS Mary Rose)...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams
Good afternoon Don, Yes, I understand that some late 1939 boats may have also had the orange seams as well. I my opinion, the 1940 19' Custom with the orange deck seams and boot stripe, Bugatti windshield, the sharper bow (than the 1941 and later models) along with the tan leather pigskin interior a...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams
I received a reply from Jerry, the person who posted the orange deck seam 1940 19' Custom on Craig's List. The Hull number is #48706. The boat now has modern power and was "Restored not Rebuilt in 2010-2011 by Bruce Gibson in Gig Harbor, WA" Is anyone familiar with Bruce Gibson and his restoration w...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams
Dean,
Thank you! I looked and see the boat (Hull #48706) it looks beautiful. Exactly what I'm looking for with the exception that is the engine had been replaced with modern power. I have a call into the seller.
I'll keep you posted on what I learn.
Thank you for the heads up!

Jim,
I will definitely specify the 19' length Custom runabout, as the 23' and 27' boats are so rare and are a bit pricey.

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams
Good morning Joanroy,
There were a few 19' foot Chris-Craft Customs in the late 1939, early 1940 production which came from the factory with orange deck seams and a green boot stripe and tan pig skin interiors. They are in my opinion, the most elegant of the "Barrel Back" runabouts.

Maritime,
You're Exactly correct! I am looking for a very nicely restored and correct boat like "Noah's Ark" I understand why these owners aren't looking to let her go at this time, but if you or any of the other members here on Boat Buzz, hear of a similar boat I am interested.
Thank you,
Niel

Looking for the best 19' Chris-Craft Custom Availible
Good evening, After many years of admiring 19' Chris-Craft Customs, I am now actively looking for the very best available. My preference is for a 1940 with a 130hp or larger engine and orange deck seams. However, I wish to find a early 1939-1940 with Bugatti windshields and a boat which has been alr...
