Re: Looking for Help Identifying Distributor Cap & Rotor

Contact Jim at Fine Wood Boats, inc in Three Lakes 815-344-9663 Unless you know the NAPA Echlin part numbers specifically it's a real struggle getting a car parts store to help, which I learned early on. Easier to talk to someone who knows what your looking for and may even have NOS See www.finewoo...

Unable to Post Pictures

Hey All, At some point over the last few months I have lost the ability to post pictures. When I “add a file”, I am able to add the photo file (I choose to use small or medium), but when I then preview my post, only the name of the file appears, but not the pic! Any suggestions for what I hope is us...

Looking for Help Identifying Distributor Cap & Rotor

I ran to Napa this morning to grab an extra cap and rotor for my 1952 ML engine but I came home empty handed. The guy at Napa was unable to identify the right unit, and all I had was a picture of my distributor (Auto-Lite 3W 4149A 6G). I tried to post pics of my distributor and engine plate if you g...

Re: Inside storage in Michigan

Well, our first winter with Lake Girl stored in our upper garage at the Lake up in Northern Wisconsin has gone pretty well ..... I kept the garage heated at just 45 degrees and I kept 2 baby pools full of water to keep the humidity levels to at least 55%. It’s up at 60% today, and the wood looks gre...

Re: To Flush, or Pull the Plug

I’m reviving this old thread as I have a newbie question for my first winterization of our 1936 19’ Runabout .... I’ve got a 1952 ML engine in my ‘36, and I pulled the four drain plugs to thoroughly drain everything for Lake Girl’s long winter slumber up in Northern Wisconsin. The drain plugs look a...

Re: Looking for Copies of Technical Drawings for My Runabout

I got my CC drawings from the Mariner’s Museum today, and they are fabulous! While they didn’t have my exact boat, I got as close as I could with these two: A 19’ Double Cockpit Runabout drawn in Nov 1934 (signed “C Smith”!) and a 19’ Sport Runabout for the 1937 model year. The Double Cockpit drawin...

Thanks, it was a gift from one of my sons and is hanging on the wall at the office. I’ll frame the CC drawing and give it some company on my wall when I get it. Re: Looking for Copies of Technical Drawings for My Runabout

Thanks Jim. I spoke to them today an I ordered a few of the closest that they had to my '36 19" Runabout since they don't have the drawings for my specific boat. I ended up getting a top/trim drawing for a 1935 19' double cockpit Runabout and a deck arrangement & profile drawing of a 1935 18' single...

Looking for Copies of Technical Drawings for My Runabout

Gents,

Is there a source for technical drawings for my 1936 Runabout? I’m just looking for a copy of the drawings to frame up and hang on my wall, similar to what I have for my 1968 Porsche 911.

here's a place to take it :D Thanks Jim, I wish I could get back up there this weekend but we just got back from 10 days in Eagle River and sadly I've had to return to reality and be at work here in Chicago :(. Re: Boat Hoist Options for a 1936 19’ Runabout

Closing out this thread, here are a few pics of the set up that we ended up with to accommodate both Lake Girl as well as our ski boat. I opted for the extended canopy to keep her out of harm’s way when we’re not up here and we crank both boats up when we leave (I dropped them both down just for the...

OK, this weekend yielded both good news and bad news on this .... First, the GOOD News: The #4 x 3/8” round head brass screw is 100% the right screw for the job, and I was able to grab a a pack of 6 at Home Depot. While the screw didn’t seat perfectly all the way in (I suspected that the wood was a ...

Re: 1940 Deluxe stern pole length.

Yup, that makes a lot of sense. It is so close to fitting in that I kind of figured I may have to file it down a bit to get it to slide in easily. We're not back up until July 4th weekend so I'll pick up a few of the (correct) brass screws this week and a nice file to get this all sorted out that we...

Reviving this Pre-War Stern Flag Pole Thread ...

I’m trying to use search as my friend on this question, but I came up empty and this seemed the best starting place for my specific question: The stern flag pole on my 1936 19’ Runabout is missing the single “set screw” at the bottom of the pole that slides into the base. I understand that the corre...

A monkey fist, it's soft and won't scratch the varnish. I also keep a key hidden by screwing it to an out-of-the-way location just in case I do lose the ignition key. Not that its all that difficult to hot wire the key switch. Thanks all for the great suggestions. And thanks to the glorious interne...

What's Your Key Chain of Choice?

Now that we're getting closer to Spring here in the Upper Midwest with temps approaching the 50's expected for this weekend, my thoughts are inching closer towards finally getting our soon-to-be-fully-restored 1936 19' Runabout on the water over Memorial Day. With the new 5200 bottom and paint work ...
