Been gone while but I'm back

Been busy working on DeamOn. Stripped and re-varnished the whole inside, replaced 98% of the 110 wiring and put in a breaker panel. This spring we have been trying to get the outside painting all finished. My toe rails are too badly weathered and cracked for varnish so until I can afford to replace ...

Re: How should I sand/clean between boards before bottom pai

Mine is a 38 footer and she leaked like there were no walls when we first put her in, talk about scary and stressful. If you leave it sit on the trailer for a day or two that would help.

Re: How should I sand/clean between boards before bottom pai

Mine swelled up just fine and my gaps were like yours. I am still seeping water someplace and will have to figure it out once the water warms up but not so bad it is a big deal. I put some slick seam in the bigger gaps and wish I would have done them all just so it wouldn't leak so bad before it swe...

I bought 50 feet of both 12 and 14. Most of the circuts are ok but some will be completly redone and a couple new ones added. The old configuration had 6 fuses on one line, the new one will have 12 on two lines so there won't be so much bunching together of circuts. I got my panel off of e-bay but i...

i hear that you should see some of the stuff that has been done in my boat, funny thing is my understanding of her history is that she was a coast gaurd boat for many years,I wonder how much they done? I plan on using 14g for most circuts that are 15a or less, 12g for stove, air and water heater. 10...

I thought as much and planned on uaing tinned wire but just wanted to make sure. I did order a book on the subject as well. Some of what is in there is solid coper romex so I wanted to make sure I was right. Here is a picture of what I am changing out. http://s3.postimage.org/5ndms3pj3/P2131150.jpg

Solid coper romex or tinned stranded wire?

I am going to take the old ac fuse boxes out of my cruiser and put in a marine breaker panel. I am going to add some circutes and seperate some. Which wire should I use? Also the old configuration has a 12g romex hooked up to a 30a shore plug with no fuse going straight to the air so I need to redo ...

What about using one of the lead expanders you run your bolt into like you use in concrete? As you run the lag bolt in it eexpands and holds tight.

I need a couple of parts anyone have these?

I am missing the a part on one of my windshield braces, it is the small part that threads onto the pipe and into the bracket on the windshield also on the windshield I am missing the latch, I have the part that goes on the window but the part that latches to it is gone. Another part I need is the si...

I can't find where the last little bit of water is coming in so I filled 3 gallon size bags with sawdust today, I opened one on the side I think the leak is on and one at the back of the boat, very little sawdust came out from under the boat so most stayed under. When I went in and checked the leak ...

Got in the water and caulked the corner and seams along the bottom of the transum. Now water is just barely trickeling in, looks like it is the seam just above the water line, it is worse when the water is ruff and better when calm so I think the water is spilling into that seam. I put some cotton i...

Found it. On the rear port corner it is leaking. I think I can get to it with it in the water to try and fix it. I will get in the water in the morning and see what happens. The front is now only running a few seconds every 15 or 20 minutes so it is doing great.

Should I give it a little more time or is this enough time? My chines had some pretty good gaps that swelled tight and they are dry so that is why I am concerned about this. I will try and pinpoint where the water is getting in, that is the hard part because I just can't see everywhere, from the out...

I am planning on leaving her in the water, our winters are not too extreme and most the lake gets very little if any ice, the marina has bubblers if it does freeze. She is now in her slip. Still taking on water after 2 1/2 weeks. It slowed way down 3 days ago but the last 2 days it has been more. Front pump runs about 1 minute every 6 or 7 minutes the rear pump is running about 10 seconds every 6 or 7 minutes, 3 days ago it was every 20 minutes. had some ruff w...

She has come a long way, we are putting her in the water to soak either in the morning or Tuesday depending on how busy the ramp is. hoping to leave her on the trailer for at leat 2 or 3 days then off to the slip. The top part still needs paint and once it is in the slip I will be hard at work on ge...

Any ideas where I can find these things?

My bildge vents got cracked laying on the table when I had them off I think from the heat it has been hell here this summer, also I need one windshield support and the trumpet end of one of my horns is gone, horn works but would probably sound better with the end on it. I have been watching e-bay an...

I am not sure of the make right now but that picture was taken with the cover off. I do have an anchor roller that goes in front of it. I think I will just get a good anchor rope and forget the chain because I don't think a chain will go thru it. I thought the guy at the boat shop was wrong.

I intend to go from the ramp to the slip which isn't more than a quarter mile probably a lot less untill she is good and soaked. I live in Colorado so no seas just a lake to put her on. I always have a bunch of life jackets and any child in my boat MUST wear a life jacket. NEVER drink while cruising only when anchored for the night ...

Ya I heard about that, they had 27 on it that is what got me wondering. I have a 25' Carver Flybridge cruiser that has a plate in it that says 14 is the max for it but it is only a 8' beam and 13 feet shorter. I heard somewhere that 14 is the norm for max number of people but can't remember where I ...
