Re: Electronic Ignition Conversion

I recently did my Model B (has an Auto-Lite IGW4028) with a Pertronix kit from Classic Boat Connection. Part number was EKIT41526V. Not sure if it's the same for your distributor but I'd check there first. Note that this is a 6V version. My only issue (found in a different thread) was 6V sagging whi...

Re: Dock Rash

So, do we think the wet towel/iron trick would work on this? repair.JPG Any need to stain or just try to build it back up with varnish (or super glue if it's still too deep)? My 7 year old dropped the anchor at just the wrong time. Hopefully a quick repair and I'll be back to remembering the weekend...

Re: Relay for 6V Pertronix?

Update: The ammeter issue was probably unrelated. I checked the old manual cutout and it was functioning properly and ammeter now shows discharging and charging with rpm as normal now. I keep a maintainer on the Optima when I'm not running so I know it's fully charged but there's still not enough ju...

Relay for 6V Pertronix?

I recently put in the pertronix kit in my 1939 17' Deluxe Utility with the original Model B. It still runs 6V with an Optima battery. Apparently while cranking the pertonix didn't have enough voltage to be happy. When I jumper +6V straight from the battery to the ignition unit everything works great...

Suggestions for Adding a Muffler?

I’m sure this could be a contentious topic but I’m seeking advice for adding a muffler to my 1939 17ft Utility running the original Hercules Model B. Any ideas? I give scenic river tours on my boat and about half of my customers comment about how loud the exhaust is at cruising speed when seated in ...

What do you use for an anchor?

What do you use for an anchor for your small boat? My 1939 17ft Utility came with this: anchor.JPG My issue is that I'm afraid it's too cool for actual use! My philosophy has been to not throw something overboard you're not willing to lose. So, what do you use on your smaller boat(s)? If I know I'll...

Re: where to find info about my 1953 sportsman deluxe

Paul, I run Portland Boat Tours from a 1939 CC Deluxe Utility 17ft (MikeM helped me obtain) which is an upgrade from the Tollycraft I started the business with 4 years ago. Your videos of the Willamette are making me anxious to get a boat in the water! If you find yourself in Portland for a visit ag...

Re: where to find info about my 1953 sportsman deluxe

Paul, Funny story: I saw your boat parked in SW Portland (probably the morning you headed south). I did a double take and came back for a closer look after dropping the kids off at school in the neighborhood there. My wife knows your cousin's neighbor so I sent her over to ask about the boat and fin...
