You are repowering for a reason, right?
And you are looking for someone to take over feeding these gashogs....

There is international danboline or epifanes also have a bilge paint. Think they come in grey or red color.

Re: annual lay-up
When storing a gasoline motor for a longer period, it is important to run it on ethanol free fuel, to avoid the corrosion issues involved with ethanol when storing. In Sweden we have alkylat gasoline, that is used for lawn movers and chain saws. It is a synthetic fuel, which gives less poisonous exh...

Re: annual lay-up
It is not recommended to winterize a raw water cooled engine without draining the block first. There is no guarantee that antifreeze reaches all parts of the block with that method. Also, its not all about freezing, the antifreeze provides anti corrosion protection too.

Probably rewired wrong. If You disconnect it and it returns to zero, the meter itself is not broken.

Yes. Cannot think of water to be "fresh" in a 45 year old metal tank , not if You intend to use it for drinking water. I'll go for a new plastic tank with a man hole for inspection and cleaning.

Re: How to refuel system after running out of fuel
I suppose this motor do not have a fuel pump? If a full tank will not provide flow enough, maybe it is possible to temporary get a outboard priming bulb into the fuel line?

The idle mix screw makes no sense before the engine is fully warmed up.

For shure, that is a small bock GM V8. Whether a 283 or something else takes a closer look... The valve covers indicate something newer then the 283, maybe a 305 or 350....

Very well... seems like I lost the naming discussion this time. Thought of "Lucky Lucy" since I saved her from a quite certain destiny as being cut up, but my wife decided we continue the trdition from our earlrier boat and so it's going to be CillaGreta III... WQe are of course going to have a offi...

I think going for plywood planking is the right way in any sense and I would have used epoxi for glueing an sealing, it's the best combination with the ply and you do not have to worry about size of fastener heads, since they will more ore less only keep the planking in place until the epoxi have cu...

If the machines are sound, it won´t hurt to take them to WOT for a couple of minutes, to see what happens to temperature and oilpressure. I´m of the opinion that taking the motors to full throttle, is the best way to determine if everithing is working as it should. If some thing breaks then, it woul...

Don't let that little crack keep you awake... it is a dry crack that comes from a completely natural movement in old wood. I can not see that it will get any worse.

:P Your'e thinking of gas consumption... I'm actually cruising about 8 knots at 2,5 L/NM, think that is quite fair with this a big boat and compared to the actual monetary investment done, so far, I still have som dough left to buy gas for a couple of summers.... 8) The fine thing is,I don't have an...

Check that the problem not are your starter, by parallell another battery for more cranking amps. If it not cranks faster then, your starter needs a rebuild.

Here they have electronic regulators, with old look! http://cloversystems.com/products/other/dynamo-regulator/ Way better than any old mechanical one. Or, as a temporary solution, any 8 amp regulator will do. Just bring the alternator to a automotive electrics shop and they will find something that ...

Leaking manifolds are the shortest way to serious motor problems, like bent connecting rods etc... I would never try to repair a cracked manifold with whatever compound. Maybe welding if possible.

You should absolutely get new manifolds. Are they leaking on the outside, then they are completely rotten on the inside. Manifolds rust from inside out. It's great risk of getting water in the motor.

Maybe the starter is the problem? Had the same problem on one of my 318' Chryslers, the starter cranked the motor slow, I thought it was to early advance set, but it ended out that the starter, though rebuilt, had to go back to the shop...
