Re: 1950 U22 Mercruiser 302 overheating

I did, indeed, get 'overheated' twenty years ago in Powhatan! Still an excellent choice and she loves woody boating to boot! Jim, it was a bad impeller ( 5 of 8 flaps were gone), so this forum proves it's worth in my eyes once again. Please enjoy your weekend and thank you again for the good advice.

Re: 1950 U22 Mercruiser 302 overheating

John,
Thank you for the thermostat idea. BTW, my wife and I bought our marriage license at the Powhatan courthouse twenty years ago! Small world!

Jim,
Thanks for the impeller idea. I will check.

1950 U22 Mercruiser 302 overheating

There was an issue overheating when we first got underway this weekend. The temperature gauge went over 200 and she died. I shut her down, waited an hour while the kids swam, and tried again without an issue. The motor was newly rebuilt in 2013 and we've never had an overheating issue with her befor...

Matt,
Thanks for the great ideas.
I think one of these ideas would likely be a better choice.

1950 U22 Stern facing seats behind front seats - any idea?

I am trying to find photos or brochures an aft-facing seating option for the 1950 U-22. The seats were installed on the back of the two front seats and were designed to look like the front seats. If anyone has seen this option, I would be much obliged.

Sealing a dip stick in a 351 W for CC U22

My dip stick is leaking in my 1950 CC U22 with a 351W. My wife and I noticed the oil in the bilge, lifted the motor cover and the dip stick wasn't sealed tight. Any ideas on sealing dip sticks? PS the oil pressure was fine and the oil level was fine. David dmcmillan Posts: 5 Joined: Wed Jun 25, 2014...

Thanks boat_art
I had to reload three times to get her evenly set onto the loadmaster trailer last outing.
That piece of detail would've saved me a lot of mental anguish.

Boat_art - You are quite correct. When we're launching is when we see the water leaking through the transom boards above the H20 line. Sounds like you've heard this one before.

Re: Sealing a U22 Hull ( temporarily) b/4 restoration

Boat bottom was redone more than 8 years ago. We store it on a loadmasters trailer and then use on weekends. No water currently found after we used a flashlight while launching and found two transom boards leaking while launching. So maybe some seams need to be sealed before launching. We used a fla...

Sealing a U22 Hull ( temporarily) b/4 restoration

Hello

Newbie question (as my teenagers tell me)

Have a beauty of a '50 U22, aging 5200 bottom though -especially sloppy around the stern, and want to extend this years season before a total restoration.

Any thoughts on a 'seasonal-sealing strategy'?

Thx,
