Painting bottom of Sea Skiff

I now have an anti-fouling paint on my '60 CC Sea Skiff boat. Is it advisable to use a "top side" paint on the bottom? Boat is in the cool waters of Lake George NY for 3-4 months. I would strip off old fouling paint and prime with Interlux 2000E barrier coat then top coat. Would the "top coat" blist...

Paragon HF2 hydraulic reverse

Hi all! Wondering if anybody out there has any tips on taking apart the gear case on a paragon HF2. Need to replace the "stub shaft" and inner / outer o-rings. Nervous about all the friction discs. The shaft has so much play that it ruins my engine coupling. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks,...

Bottom Paint

Hi all, Does anybody have any suggestions on a good anti-fouling paint for my '60 sea skiff? My boat is usually in the water on Lake George from mid May til mid Oct. The bottom is all new plywood coated w/ CPES only at this point. Originally it had copper/bronze color but my wife really like the bla...

For the plywood deck I just stained and varnished. Considering that my deck baked in the southern exposure sun for 4 1/2 months a year it took a beating. Thats when I switched to the vinyl. To prep for that I just lightly sanded and used a 3M spray adhesive with thw seam under the king plank. Of cou...

I replaced the deck on my '60 23' Sea Skiff w/ Mahogany ply. It looked great for a couple yrs. Went back to the white vinyl and it looks even better.

Thiokol would still be soft and flexible. At least mine is from 1960. I think it is some type of plastic resin glue similar to "Weldwood" now. Pre epoxy days?

Thanks for the input. I know that the original planks were not glued with 5200 but the laps were.
Thanks again,
Dave

I am talking about the plywood end to end not the overlapping seams of the lapstrake.

Scarfing plywood

Hi, This is my first post as I am new to the fourm. I have a 1960 23' Sea Skiff and am re-bottoming.I am getting ready to start scarfing boards together and was wondering what type of adhesive is best. Is epoxy ok ? High desity filler or low? Thanks, Dave
