Re: Mechanic Referral - Dallas TX Area

These guys can tell you. I think their clubhouse is a workshop where they pull engines and flip boats.

Laclede, The folks with places on Lakes Lanier, Rabun, etc are more likely to have vacation homes on Park Ave in NYC than in a swamp. <G> Best, Jeff

I fully intend to come see this boat and the Puget Sound when your project is over. I would for sure trust it in a little foul weather. You're doing great.

I wonder who has been on your boat. The list would probably be pretty interesting.

Re: Tango Uniform (Restoration of a 1940 44 foot Chris Craft

One thing about it, when you get through, you are going to be thoroughly familiar with your yacht and its systems - and more capable of taking extended cruises to points unknown. It is great to see some one with both enthusiasm and the money to back it up. I can't wait for you to get it back in the ...

Laclede - First off, welcome back. As I said before, its your thread and you can do with it as you want and people can participate or not based on their inclinations. What I would recommend is that this is a project in which you should be getting your hands dirty on yourself. ... That mechanic will...

I hate it that this thread went TU, even though I had to look it up. 1. tango uniform adj – slang: military phonetic alphabet for letters ‘t’ and ‘u’, used as euphemistic abbreviation for ‘tits up’. etymology: from military aviation, where the flight attitude indicator on the aircraft instrument pan...

I don't know anything about anything, but that black CC laclede bought is beyond cool. Black boats. Mysterious black boats. I love 'em. This thread is a lot of fun, too. I agree with most all laclede says. Ever walked into "new money's" house and wondered why everything was so new and shiny? I think...

I pulled the plastic off after 9 days being draped. Now I've got the humidity at 45-50%. The boat just looks better. I guess you can see "dry". Hope I didn't leave it on too long. This did kind of give me alarm: Four conditions are necessary for the development of wood decay producing fungi. Elimina...

I've been doing this for a week today. I cut the steam mist a few days ago. The seam that was giving me concern is about half closed from where it was. I let it dry out too much last winter and am determined not to let that happen again. The drape will not stay on there permanently but I do think it...

Checking back in. Things have warmed up and now the garage is around 70 degrees, up from 60-61 and the humidity is up to 84%. Who knows what it would be if it were 85 degrees outside instead of 60. The bottom is actually wet when the warm mist humidifier is running which is now 16/7. Seems to be doi...

Heated Indoor Storage Humidity Control Attempt

Plastic over and under with 3 cool mist humidifiers going 24/7 and one warm mist for 8/7 keep the air under the drape at 61-73% humidity. Seems to work.

That was a great buy for someone, Doug. It came with a survey and was donated by a pretty reputable guy. I just couldn't afford the shipping although, for a second, I thought about keeping it in the $250 per month stall and working out the shipping later. I loved the top cabin. Jeff

I always dock like I have no reverse gear and I'm almost never disappointed when it doesn't work. Watch the wind and waves like you're on a sailboat. BTW, some of us call scratches "patina". :) And there's nothing better than a boat hook in a competent first mate's hand.

Thanks, Jim. There is so much about this picture that I could talk about. She though all the folks buying it from t...
