Re: Need pattern for 38 CC deluxe runabout windshield
Thanks for the tip. I thought I might have to wing it like that.

Need pattern for 38 CC deluxe runabout windshield
This forum has been a great help in finding all the missing links in my restoration. Now I need a pattern for the '17 '38 CC Deluxe Runabout windshield. I have no windshield piece to copy and could use dimensions and/or a pattern to cut glass from. I could do it by trial and error, but a pattern wou...

Re: Self bailer vent hole
Thanks Jim. I think this is the style I have, with no hole and cast clamp.

Thanks for the replies. I like the original way as long as it worked okay.

Self bailer vent hole
Am installing the original self bailer on a '38 CC deluxe runabout. It has a shut off valve installed which I intend to keep closed for safety. ( I will also have a new bilge pump installed.) I just want it to look original, even though the bailer will not be operational normally. Question is, if I ...

Where to install new gas tank vent on '38 CC deluxe runabout
Am installing a new Rayco fuel tank in '38 CC deluxe runabout. Since there was no fuel vent other than the tiny hole in gas cap on original boat, is it better to add a thru hull vent and not rely on that tiny vent?. Hate to drill another hole in new varnish. And where is the best position if I do ad...

Re: parts for pitman steering mechanism
Thanks for all the tips. I ended up replacing the entire unit with one purchased from Eckler. Of course, as soon as I purchased the replacement, the missing pieces turned up. Isn't that always the way?

Re: parts for pitman steering mechanism
Thanks for the tip. Tried Mc Master and no luck. Ordered complete link asm from Mac's and will probably have to weld it to existing steering shaft.

parts for pitman steering mechanism
Hey guys, I have been looking for the spring, ball sockets and threaded nut that attach the rudder to the steering rod. I know the parts are probably from antique auto, but so far I have only been able to find 1/2" and 1" sizes in the drag link mechanisms. Mine is from a '38 CC double cockpit deluxe...

Hey Don, You were correct as for the hull #. I transposed two digits. It is actually #71248, as you can see by the hull card, and most likely was delivered in '38, although I don't know any first hand history. Sorry about that. I did look over the posts on the gage panel. After some research, looks ...

Don, Thanks so much for those shots. Your boat looks awesome. Hope mine turns out half as nice. After searching back through the forum, I see that lots of the boats of the period may not have had the fender cleats and chocks installed by the factory, but rather, left it for the dealerships. Mine may...

seat frame for '38 Chris DR 17'
Thanks for the pic Don. I suspected as much, but since I only had a couple of the wedge shaped risers, wasn't sure. Are your seats covered half and half, with loose cushions on top? Mine have been redone and completely covered without the loose cushions. Want to do it right. Also, is your floor cover...

seat frame for '38 Chris Craft DR 17'
Finally got room to work on the Chris again, so am attempting to piece the interior back together. It was in pieces when I bought the boat, so don't have pix to refer to. Have been looking at the forum for interior shots but don't see the actual seat supports and framing. Seems like there should be ...
