Re: 1947 17 ft Deluxe Runabout (R-17 series) Factory Drawing

Rudy, You have a great model boat there. My first boat was a 1948 17' Deluxe R17-1224. Let us know what you are looking for. There are a couple of folks on the Boat Buzz that are currently restoring the same model boat. Do you have the hull card? What do you want to do with the boat? Will it be a us...

I researched a little more and I am going with a 6,500# electric hoist with aluminum framed cradle with carpeted wood bunks to match my trailer.

Call Jim Stabb 815-344-9663 email him at [email protected].com and he will fix you up with the correct chocks. Tell him your story and let him know exactly what you are looking for. Look up the part in the parts list for the 48 deluxe and give him the part number. If Jim does not have the ...

48 CC Deluxe.jpg
You need to have a talk with the judges or at least the chief judge of the event. Here is a photo of the correct closed chocks for a 1948 Deluxe Runabout. Let me know if you have any questions on the 17' 1948 Deluxe I restored one back to original.

Proper Boat Lift

Well we have talked a lot in the past about the correct trailer and bunks for our antique boats. Now I would like to hear from some of you about what you think is the best boat lift in your boat house for our boats. I am installing a new lift in my boathouse and before I charge out and create someth...

Re: 1959 Chris-Craft KFL Engine idling issues

I posted this back in 2013. "I have a KFL and if you pulled the carbs off the engine you had to remove the linkage. If you did not pull the carbs apart your problem is most likely the linkage is mis connected to one of the carbs. Remove the linkage and hook it to the proper hole in the carb lever. I...

Re: Registration numbers under varnish need changing

Just a thought but maybe you could go to your DMV and ask them to accept the registration numbers you currently have on your boat. It is just a number and I am sure if it is from another state it would not be a duplication. I sold my 17' Deluxe to a fellow in Texas and he never did change the regist...

Re: Woodyboater Bryant's Marina 1946 Runabout

On my 1948 17' Deluxe the decks were putty filled and the cover boards and side planks had bungs. The 46 in the photo looks like they went light on the stain also. These old photo's are great to have when researching and wanting to put the boat back into original condition. I found some very valuabl...

Woodyboater Bryant's Marina 1946 Runabout

Take a look at Woodyboater today at the 1946 17' deluxe runabout. It really caught my eye to look at the stain on the hull sides with every bung standing out like dot's down it. Wow! the judges wouldn't even let them in the show with a look like that.

Why can't finding Raybelle be that easy? It is not a she.. 1951 flooring is available and 57-58 is almost unheard of... I am hoping one day someone calls me and says they have found a roll of Raybelle NOS laying on the shelf in the corner.

Re: Year or Date CC Switched from 6 volt to 12 volt?

6 volt Instrument with Resistor for 12 volt.jpg The battery may have been a 12v but many of the instruments were still 6 volt until the factory used them up. Example the 19' Capri changed from 6v to 12 on 6/14/57 but my Capri still had 6v instruments with resistors on 9/5/57. Chris-Craft wasted not...

Re: Year or Date CC Switched from 6 volt to 12 volt?

Brian, I did a lot of research to finish up the 19' Capri last year at the MM and I went through all the cards for the changes and this was the date of the 19' Capri voltage change. 6/14/1957 CP-19-636 Change from 6v to 12v electrical system Knotty Blonde was 9/5/57 and it was 12V Fun Stuff! Pete

In the past I have always used Shell Rotella Straight SAE 30 motor oil. This week I started searching for the Rotella SAE 30 and only found Rotella Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oil SAE 30. Also have you pulled up anything on Boat Buzz? Are you sure about the spelling? Could it be Raybelle?

Hey George, My 55 Sportsman had original floor boards in it. I have my thoughts as to why Chris-Craft built the floor boards this way. My boat was a Special Sportsman which had ceiling panels. If you would have purchased this boat in a standard sportsman, I don't think it would have come with ceilin...
