My wife has seen Carla. I am not allowed to go to Pisces Rising by myself. If you've been to Mt. Dora, you understand.

Scuppers

Thanks for the info, Doug. From the photos I've seen your area is beautiful. I understand why you'd want to keep it a secret! I hope to visit that part of the country before I slip into the dry end of Davy Jones' Locker. Al, you are correct. The scuppers are at the waterline next to the exhausts. Th...

Scuppers

By the way Doug, I'm green with envy about your location. That is wooden boat heaven on the West Coast. When I found my boat it was sitting, and rotting in a boat house on Lake Union. I had it shipped East and the rest is history. I wish I could attend the Chris-Craft Cruiser rendezvous there in Ore...

What are these holes?

With a cruiser , a scupper is a scupper, is a scupper. It drains the water out of your boat when the water gets in your cockpit. Because my boat is wood, the fittings are bronze but they serve the same purpose: to get the water out of the inside of your boat. I would never eliminate them.

I've had Hagerty on my boat since I bought it almost 8 years ago. Chris Smaltz is a gem and he bends over backward to help you. I cannot think of one instance where I have asked Chris for help and he hasn't come through for me. You get what you pay for. Period.

Holes in transom

This may be for a scupper (drain) for the cockpit. My 1955 has a bronze scupper on both port and starboard sides in the cockpit at the stern. Personally, I would not eliminate them. They serve a definite purpose. I kept them in my cruiser. I'll take a photo and post it.

Where do these go?

#2 is (are) the inside seat supports for the Companion and Helm seats. They are almost identical to ones on my 1955 Semi-Enclosed. I just sent mine out to be rechromed. One side of the support is screwed to the wooden support under the seat cushion. The other side is screwed directly to the side of ...

That's one idea, Jeff, But I don't know how well poly would stick to the laminate. The original finish was heat bonded and it was one unit. Also once the poly began to chip the party would be over. I'll just bite the bullet and go with what's available.

Every time I add fuel to "Mon Ami" I add my "cocktail" to the tank. That is: 2oz. of Marvel Mystery Oil to every 5 gals. of gas, 1 oz. of Startron to every 16 gals., 1 oz. of lead substitute for every 10 gals. My engine rebuilder said because of the relatively low RPM's of my ML's I didn't really ne...

Destination New Jersey

Thanks for the note, Chad. You will find that the three southern counties of New Jersey : Salem, Cumberland, and Cape May are a totally different state than North Jersey. Thanks for the input everyone! Nice to hear from you Wilson. We haven't talked since the Newport News CC Symposium. Well, it's a moot point now. The boat has been carted off to FLA. I offered 9K but apparently it wasn't enough.

Talked to a Pionite distributor this morning. They are sending me a sample of their "Gray Linen" pattern in gloss finish like the original on "Mon Ami". I was told I could order it through Home Depot or Lowes. We may have a winner here!
