Re: XK-22 Chris Craft 6.9 Meter Hull # 20 "Last one ever ma

The Holland plant is not unusual. The Cortland New York plant closed in 1974. I have two Lancers built in Holland and one built in Chattanooga TN. I do see some curiosities though. In 76 there were two XK 22's. The one featured here marketed as the XK 6.9 Meter, and the original layout without the a...

Got to know the owners of the 69. Nice folks who take good care of her. I've added several to the fleet since that post. Check out my profile to see them. The 75 came out pretty nice!

Re: 17' Lancer Help Wanted

There are plenty of Volvo parts available online and on ebay. There pretty bullet proof drives. Go ahead and pull the trigger on a Lancer if you find a good one and there are plenty of them out there. They are great performing boats and draw lots of admiration wherever you go. Search the web. You'll...

Re: Missing Capacity Plate

Early 19' Lancers with the drop down side panels had them on the shift mounting board. Later(around 1970) they were moved to the side of the hatch opening. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y261/craigjudge/sideplateearly_zpsdb13d6a9.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y261/craigjudge/sideplatelate_z...

Here's the hinge on an original unrestored XK22. Different finish but the hinge looks the same as does the mounting method.

More info on these boats. Please read.

I have been working with the owner to try to find a home for these boats and save them from the salvage guy. The two boats in question are very significant to the early glass era of CC. One is number 5 of the 1965 model Corsair which is the first year. It had the early deck design and trim. The seco...

membership suggestions

I have a couple possible solutions. The first is on the income side. Whenever a member declines to renew due to selling his boat, there should be a dialogue with the member to gain the contact information of the new owner. What better prospect than an owner of a "new" old boat? The other is on the e...

I really enjoyed reading about all of your great memories. I also have a 19 Lancer that originally came from Winnipesaukee. Formerly owned by the Forbes family on Birch Island. How about some pictures of the restored boat?

Lancer Interior

I'm nearly finished with the 75 Lancer rebuild. I tried to stay as close to original as possible but made a couple of "artistic variations" The lower toe boards in the cockpit were originally covered in a very heavy imitation teak vinyl. I found very similar material by 3m and have used it elsewhere...

Based on some quick internet searches it shouldn't be too difficult to find a P21 trans. I'm also looking for a local engine builder in Connecticut or Rhode Island who can rebuild my 307. It would be better if they were a full service yard and could install it when completed.

This has been very informative. Thanks for all the effort doing the research. I will be slowly putting the pieces together over the next year while I enjoy the Lancer.
I'll post some pictures of the Lancer in a week or so when I've finished the final assembly. Cheers!

Transmission question

As my Lancer project nears completion I just picked up the next project. It's a 76 25 Express Cruiser. I know it's not a big dollar boat but I want something big enough to overnight every now and then. The boat came without a motor which I already have. I've got a 76 307 that according to my researc...

The hull number listed is orab which doesn't exist. Orav is the 1970 lancer premier/custom super sport. According to the complete guide only 25 were made. All sported the shark blue color. This is rare indeed. Thanks for posting the link.

Ultra Rare Ebay Alert

This Lancer is currently listed on ebay. Ultra rare 427 powered Lancer Custom Super Sport. Hopefully someone buys it before some redneck buys it and pulls the motor to put into his F-250! http://s4.postimage.org/2zx4grkf8/KGr_Hq_QOKo0_E33_DU1b_Ru_BOCl_Z_ZSUg_3_1.jpg Couldn't get the link to work to ...

I'm not concerned about making money on it. My view of the early glass boats (I'm into Lancers) is that first, they are great boats with a very cool design and they represent the beginning of a milestone in boat building. In addition, when something is ignored and not considered valuable for as long...

This boat seems to be complete with the original deck and still has all the vinyl intact. Based on the standard equipment and options listed in the 62 sales guide, this boat seems to have a few options that would make it similar to a custom ski in later years. It has the optional fuel gauge, ski har...

identified!

Thanks for the help finding the hull number. It is a 1962. Hull number CUA-16-155. Now if I can get ahold of who owns the house I might be able to save this boat. How rare are they these days? There's not many on the internet and none in the registry except the two ski-jets.

I'll go back and see if I can find it. I didn't know where to look. I didn't think the 62 and later ski boats had the vinyl decking carry all the way back to the stern. Also, I believe the later boats have a piece of mahogany that runs around the perimeter of the bow. http://s4.postimage.org/11r3oam...

Need Help Identifying runabout

This boat is near my house and I'm having trouble with the identification. It appears based on the Essential Guide and a basic internet search, that it is a 61' Custom ski 16'. There are some boards in need of replacing but it seems to be very complete. According to the guide the interior should be ...

I would try wet sanding with 1000 grit paper. You'll know pretty quickly if you have enough finish left. Buffing does the same as wet sanding, it removes very thin layers of paint. In my experience, unless you're very experienced with the buffing process, there's a greater chance of buffing too far ...

I'm having the upholstery on my 75 Lancer redone. According to the shop where I brought my lounge seats, the original material is no longer available. Nice score! I have a spare 307 CC motor that is proper for the period and should drop right into your Lancer. Yours looks like a 17'. I would bet you'd get at least 15 mph more out of the 307. Put thru hull exhaust and it'll sound like 50 more! Love the Lancers!

Hey Paul, your 73 has the side hull ventilators and top mount clamshells? I just found the side vents on chrisparts.com http://www.chrisparts.com/vents.htm. I didn't think any year combined both style vents. Can you confirm this as original?
