Re: Can I wax my topside paint?
Waxing will help block UV damage, aid in abrasion resistance and keep a good shine. Do not use polish of any kind. I would go with 3M Scotch Guard liquid wax (black bottle) apply and buff by hand. Check with Interlux for full cure time.

It was my understanding Craig that the one part polyurethanes were formulated primarily for wood boats to avoid those problems. I understood it was the two part polyurethanes to avoid....... I'm a beginner here, but I'd like to hear some more feedback from some of the members on this topic. +1 on t...

Your call,..Pettit is a good product. Polyurathane I expect. Personally, I like to use the same manufacturer when applying primer and finish coats. Roll and tip?

Hi Bob, They are really just 1/4" fiber hardboard with an embossed pattern. These are mine from my 24' Sea Skiff restoration that I just finished the last coat of paint on. I am sure you can use what they sell at the home centers. Cutting them to fit may be a challenge as each panel is a different s...

+1 on Flagship. Also Pettit Clear Sealer gives a great build head start.tkhersom wrote:I, being an armature, LOVE the Pettit Z-Spar 2015, also known as Flagship. It builds well, is workable, and flows smooth.
IMHO the best varnish on the market.

Greetings all, Last fall I finished (finally) painting Mistress, my 1965 Connie. I used Pettit Ship -N- Dec Alkyd enamel and am generally pleased with the results. Still a year away from launch but wanted to protect my handi-work. I can't yet wash her with a hose and soap (no water in the shed) so ...

Glassing a wood hull is a big mistake. What you are seeing is likely only part of the issues with the hull. Good luck.

I am about to install the copper exhaust pipes through the transom openings. Looks like packing was in place when I removed them. Any suggestions on what to use to seal them?

My marine supplier just infirmed me that Petitt is no longer manufacturing their "standard Mahogany" filler/stain. I contacted Petitt and they confirmed this. I am looking for a pint to complete my Sea skiff project. Anyone have any extra? thanks.

I have used Interlux Brightside "flag blue" on a few projects. Not sure if it is perfect but it looks great.
